LOL!!! Roger, I had to go back and copy and paste Nick's response to my first posting of this pair...
Quoted from Nick Wheeler's response...
"The smaller one is a san-mai damascus piece. The core is 1084, while the sides are welded up triangles from an accordian cut jelly roll billet. They contain 1084/15N20/Pure Nickel."
"The guard is 416, and the handle is a beautiful piece of African Blackwood with burl and eyes in the palm swell of the handle."
"It's a very similar blade shape to the big one, just a 5.5" (or so) blade."
[The 'big one' he's refering to was the award winner from the NWKC Show in October.]
The Rodewald piece is IIRC 1084/15n20 maiden's hair damascus with a brass (?) hilt and I have to go home and look up the handle... which I think is Ironwood, but I'm not sure...
