The All New 2008 "What Did You Cut with Your Buck Today?" Topic

I had my 110 in my pocket today, complete with the smiley face sticker on its upper right bolster (gotta keep your sense of humor while you're hard at work, you know :D)!

I cut:
50 standard-size shipping boxes (used to carry new text books) down to flat
A dozen or so old zip-ties that needed removing
An old flannel shirt, into rags
Four bratwurst patties for supper
Two tomatoes, one onion, and an apple

Y'all may not believe this, but the 179 hilo was so dull today it wouldn't cut cardboard. Was trying to unpack a new generator for this blow we may get tomorrow.

So in the pocket of the truck was this Buck Ecco 3.0

Used the serrated blade and sliced open that cardboard like cutting butter.

Forgot that one was even in the truck.

We took a vacation to New Mexico in September. We got lazy and left an ice chest outside at our camp site one night. A bear showed up at about 2:00am. Here is the ice chest photographed later that morning.

After the bear visit my wife made a point to cary her Buck 105 Pathfinder on our hikes over the next week. Here is a photo on a trail at Cimaron Canyon.

Meanwhile, we got a call from neighbors letting us know our home back in Texas had been flooded by Hurricane Ike. We had 2 inches of Gulf of Mexico water in the house during the flood and about 20 inches in the garage. Our car in the garage was totaled. It was a writeoff since we only had liability coverage. Thankfully we had flood insurance coverage for the house. I think the loss to the house and contents will be about $20 to 30 thousand, but we were lucky. On our block 5 townhomes burned to the ground during the storm. On the block next to us 5 other townhomes burned down. On the block next to that, 3 homes burned down. The local medical center had $700 million in damage and flood insurance coverage for only $100 million. Ouch.

At my daughter's soccer game today, one of her team mates had forgotten to remove one of those knotted string friendship bracelets. One of the refs noticed it during the game and said she couldn't continue to play until she took it off. We had no subs, so we would have been a gal down until she got it off. She couldn't untie it, so I cut it off with my 301 (with her concurrence, naturally).

Another satisfied customer.

Tonight's dinner is a hind leg of antelope that I killed in WY in Sept. I'm not sure how my son is going to fix it. My wife put a vegetarian cassolet in the crock pot for a side dish and I just finished making one French apple pie and will do another one after I take a bit of a break. I used my Buck 321 to slice up the apples and it did a great job. Yesterday my buddy, Sparky, gave us a bushel of Spartan and Enterprise apple mix. He used to fly off the Enterprise so that is why he bought the tree. They are a crisp, tasty apple.

Last week skint' my side of a cow elk with a 192 I traded out of Hawkeye. Other guy was using a $$Boker$$ ceramic blade, which cuts like a lazer, I was able to stay pretty much even with him.

(This 2008 thread is winding down for the year!)

I butchered six granny smiths with my 110 so Katie could bake this for Thanksgiving. This was the first thing baked in our kitchen since Hurricane Ike flooded our home with 2 inches of saltwater in September. About 80% of the homes in our town of 50,000 population were flooded.

The package of a new SanDisk 8GB flash drive I got for $19.99 at Radio Shack.

A pie would be better!
