The AMS is a fairly decent blade,,,

I EDC my Mean Street everyday. It is an amazing all around knife with many applications. I have black canvas micarta with the B.I.G finish. I sport it in a kydex sheath with tek lok scout style.

The AMS is an all around great blade. It's awesome to hear you warmed up to it, it looks like you are putting it to good use

My AMS is double cut, what is the difference between this and B.I.G? The only thing I know about the B.I.G finish is that it is uncoated.

The big finish is a polished finish the double cut has been media blasted and has a hazy satin appearance. (It is also non reflective).

Gotcha! That's a sweet looking blade

Thanks the top is a nuclear muskrat it was a custom shop offering in a ganza a while back and the bottom is a hog muk. Both great blades, the muk has moved on but the muskrat is in the safe, oh the life of a queen

Oh man. I LOVE it. I use this blade for everything. I got a flexxx strop to maintain the edge. Looking for that TGLB next and the Aragon Assault to fallow.

I dig the BIG finish. As far as it being polished eh... not sure it makes a nice noise when you run your fingers across the body of the blade. It does reflect but not like a polished blade. IMO

The edge on this is different too. Asymmetrical I am pretty sure. Convex on one side and V edge on the other. It's a good working combo

AMS is a nice little edc, congrats!

Uhoh, there is a disturbance in the force that is HOG Fu info which must be remedied so piglets do not get confused. :p Double cut or DCBB is a very gray, non reflective matte finish, not satin at all as the muskrat picture shows. That numbered HOG Muk LE from 2011 with the smooth ricasso was only offered in "hand applied" Satin (commonly just called satin), which is much smoother and higher finished than Busse Industrial Grade (new finish recently offered in the past year to replace the no longer offered Competition Finish :( ) which has a much coarser crosshatching on the ricasso/handle areas. Sometimes satin has very fine markings in it from a worn out belt that causes it to reflect like that with just the perfectly captured reflective angle. All three of my Muk LE's did, but my fourth, a separately made wedding muk did not. ;)

BIG finish, look at ricasso/talon hole & butt, basically the flat area for the handles has several steps skipped to save time/cost. You can almost file your nails with the crosshatching. Also, the blade itself is not nearly as reflective due to being much less polished than satin.

You can faintly see the marks from the sanding belt in the first two shots of this satin HOG Muk LE.

It disappears in the third.

The best shot I have showing the sanding marks is from the third LE.

Mission accomplished. :D

Thanks for the correction, I simply don't own a big finish knife, the muk is the closest to big finish I own.

No worries, just trying to be helpful, and a little selfish as I just don't want to get sold a satin as BIG or vice versa on the exchange, since some of the newer guys might not know the difference. :p
