The Morels are still a couple of weeks away here. Surely some of you guys are finding them by now. Let's see 'em!

Been looking nearly every day here. Not enough rain yet. Heavy rain predicted here this weekend. I'm going to intensively look on Sunday

raining here in the midwest right now. sunny n warm again tomorrow and thru the weekend. the morels should pop! will be doing some serious hunting sunday. will take pix if they do indeed show themselves.

Ill be out Sun to hunt, maybe tomorrow as well. Havent seen anything yet, just got in from Knob Knoster state park hiking and came up empty.

None here. The weedes are tall. Suppose to rain the next three days. Im afraid its to late for me.The first time Ive never had morels.

This has been a super dry spring so far in the midwest, which sucks if your into paddling like me. The local rivers and streams look like it's August right now.

Picked about 18 lbs now in central Nebraska. River bottom, on south facing slopes, I will post some pics when I get home.

Here are the promised pictures:

wow skab thats frigging awesome-the sun is shining here right now
after all that rain yesterday
70s n sun yeah!
to the woods i shall go a walking...

I have never frozen any. I either eat them or sell them. Once I get my fair share of eatting them done, I start selling. Made over $500 so far this season!! Not bad for just walking around the woods enjoying nature!

Hw much are you getting a lb.?

skab8541....Do you freeze any of those?....if so, how?

Make sure you have good firm fresh ones. Dip them in egg , then cracker meal. Lay them on a cookie sheet and freeze. Then put them in zip lock bags. They will be good for several months. When ready to eat just deep fry.

aaahh man.. what a haul there Skab... though we have a ton of mushrooms to forage for around here, we don't have any morel's.. i'm bummed.. they're delicious...

Hi folks -

dipbait is right on - this is a great way to save some if you are lucky enough to have excess.

Here in central Illinois it has been warm enough, but not enough moisture.

It rained yesterday and last night, so we may have some popping up.

So far all I have heard of people finding around here are the small greys.

I'll be out tomorrow looking around.

I look for dead trees and then walk an increasing radius circle around the tree until I have exceeded the estimated drip-line of the tree when it was alive.

Then I find the next tree.

Of course I keep my "shroom-eye" out while between trees - you really never know where they'll be, and they are not always where they were last year.

best regards -
