The ants crawl in, the ants crawl out....

Sounds great. But the company can't ship to California. :(

Ohhhh. You want the serious Cali approved WMDs. ;) Amdro (Hydramethylnon) is the fastest acting and best commercial seller in Texas. California has done tox studies and found it to be safe in the presence of dogs and rabbits but has some possible chronic non-oncogenic effects in rats and mice. I'm not aware of any gap studies indicating possible effects on avian species.

The stuff is the shiznez. I used it religeously in urban lawn-to-lawn counterops during my tour of duty in Texas. Sprinkle a coupla' spoonfulls around an active nest, they carry the stuff underground, and above ground is littered with the smouldering carcasses of ex-fire ants the following AM. :D:D

Spectricide (pyriproxyfen) is also available for use in CA. It is effective but is slower to control the biting bastages. Ortho Orthene Fire Ant Killer is effective and has the added benefit of smelling like Ren left a special BFC photo op in your bidet. This stuff is great for clearing guests out of parties that have run too late......

The imported red fire ant is a quarrantined species here and infestations should be reported to the CA Dept of Food and Agriculture. UC's Ag pages have more info to help repel the stinging hordes. UC IPM Online: Statewide Integrated Pest Management Program diseminates the latest intelligence on the growing red menace and provides a list of effective counterinsurgency measures.

Per Wikipedia, the same product is in Ortho Home Defense Max.

We just had a small infestation, and I got some of this as it is said to be safe indoors.

Holy crap. Almost instantaneous, and it has a long residual life.

I banded the whole perimetre of the house, and all doorways.

The yard they can have....
