Yesterday I got two...
Unknown brand(can't read, the casting is very rough) 100lb, badly cheaped on the edge. It has big number 10 on the front side of the base. Looks like it is all cast iron, but the chipped edge does not have the granular structure. It was not expencive, so I took it for general hammering in the shop. If it will break - no big deal.
Big one is Arm&Hammer 200lb anvil. Steel face and cast iron base. It has a bit of voids along the seam. I also think the face plate might be a bit loose at the tail side in one corner. The sound is different.
I did not find much info about this brand. Is it good or I wasted my money?
Is there any chance to weld the seam between the face plate and the cast base? I can weld stick or TIG no problem.
I think I got pretty good deal, because I got it less than $1.25 per pound And the small one $0.5 per pound. I have a big chunk to break my ingots on now...
Shall I be happy or shall I hang myself?
