The Art Of The Navaja MIQUEL BARBUDO

Scout I have one similar to this ordered with Fighting Bull horn and a custom black Crossdraw sheath from his Leathersmith

Only change is blade is a tad bit shorter and I’ve requested a tapered tang

That one looks great. I like the style and execution seems nice as well

That thing wants to pierce something

It looks like its his El Guapo. - the one I posted above is my favorite of his fixed blades - the El Bravo.

Blade

I’ve Ben going smaller on my fixed blades these days I have to many large ones

Compared to the Bagwells, that would be a smaller blade.

A very well proportioned knife IMO.

(One can never be too thin or have too many large blades!)

Whilst I understand, that the 'bulbous' (for lack of better words) blade is a traditional shape and that Im most likely in the minority with my lack of fondness for thumb studs, I must admit, that I like this Barbudo knife a tad better - he makes some sleek and great looking blades:

This is also sleek and good looking (assume he has the right to use the hole):

Barbudo also makes a mean fixed blade - I quite like this:

I really like that style (Flamencas) as well and the guitar shaped lock is quite cool. I am definitely going to have one of these made. Many thanks to joe for posting this up.

My pleasure

I love seeing great makers get connected to great customers

Excellent video. Nicely done. Very cool knife as well.

Thanks M

When I have time I really do enjoy making videos on things I care about and I hope it shows

I try to put out there what a nut job like me would like to see :)

Joe's video was effective marketing on me. I ordered one.

He is a very responsive maker, he immediately got back to me to let me know the time frame for completion and has quickly responded to other questions I have about customizing the knife. Pretty cool to have a maker that responsive when you hear about so many makers being unresponsive.

And from what Joe has said, his lead time has just jumped up. Maybe a bunch of other people on here ordered as well.

JParanee JParanee I think it was that ratcheting sound that totally sold me!

What did you get ?

What did you get ?
Still working it out, but likely CF scales/back spacer, black liners, peeled or bead blasted bolsters, and a san mai blade, plus the sheath. Not totally sure, but I have some time before mine comes up.

That sounds awesome

Really excited to see it

I’m hoping to get my fixed blade from him by the end of the month for Blade Show

Miguel is a great knifemaker, I have a Flamenca on its way...

Same here. Seems like a really good guy and very responsive. I am wrapping up the details on a Flamenca Coria with a horn handle and looking forward to having it in hand in several months. Will definitely post it up when it arrives.

He just sent me a picture of his San Mai. It was just what I hoped it would be - very similar to CAS Knives/Sobral brothers.
