And this, my friends, is how you hedge your bets.Just kidding!
Jo does all the scale installs. And don’t get me wrong she is mighty… and I’m not saying you are weak, but I may be implying it.
Unless of course you were removing wood scales, which may be epoxied on. If that’s the case then you are a beast!

I could be genuinely happy if this was the only knife I got this year
What's it made of? D3V is pretty good against lead
How do you think D3V would fare, Nathan?
I bet it would be brutal

I enjoyed that, but the winners probably fail at slicing carrots, thinner edges do better with carrots.

Hi Nathan. Do you have a consistent source(s) of the antique micarta, or is this a finite material in the repertoire of CPK knives?
Got any photos of this 500lb chunk? It's finite, unfortunately. I found it a few years ago and bought all of it, there wasn't more.
It is, almost certainly, Westinghouse and it's very pretty, very solid and quite old. It machines differently than current production material, running the spindle load meter up higher and it buffs like a completely solid material. It's quite nice, it's my favorite handle material that we offer, and it's going to be sad when it's used up but I still have quite a bit of it remaining and I'm careful not to waste any of it. I recently acquired an additional stash of vintage (but not antique) Micarta. It was made after Westinghouse sold off to International Paper (it's fully documented material) so it isn't the new Norplex material (that I'm not a big fan of) so I'm hopeful it will also be good solid material, although it's unlikely it will have as much character as the original. The "new" material is in big unmanage pieces, (over 500 lbs) so we haven't had a chance to cut any up yet. I'm hoping to get a chance to cut into some of it this week.
