The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

You get the fat tire, Ill take the skinner 🍻

Eta question-Blade show,,,,quantity wise do you expect to have more or less then last year? To those goin, have fun ya lucky dogs.

We're aiming for around 100, like last year.

Probably not going to have as much variety as I would like. We're just about out of Shivs that aren't spoken for on the pre-order so we're only going to be able to bring a few standard and about a dozen double edge.

Couple of swords

Maybe a chopper, a few DEK, UF, Kephart etc. but most of our inventory is going to be the basic 5 field knife. Last year we sold out pretty quickly, which is very unusual. I expect we will probably be able to maintain some inventory the entire weekend this year.

Hey Nathan, Happy belated anniversary to you and your lovely bride!
Do you have any ideas on how to clean up some small rust pepper spots on D3V?
I've let it soak with penetrating oil and then WD40 but it doesn't seem to get better.

Sabitori Rust Eraser [Japanese Sushi Chef's Tool]-2.5" (6.5cm) On the big river site and elsewhere.

Or something similar... Edited to put up the one that I have.

About the only thing you can do without tearing up the tumble finish would be to clean it with a solvent and then rub it with Evaporust for a while. And then oil it.

It won't fix it completely but it should be good enough.

Beyond that you're looking at regrind and re-tumble to completely remove all trace. Assuming you want to retain your tumble finish.

If it is non-visible rust that is under the scales, try putting the scales back on.
Reminds me of when I was taking ground school while considering to learn to fly.

The Instructor asks a question of the class: "Say that you're flying from Los Angeles to Los Vegas at night and you turn on your landing lights and don't like what you see (referring to flying in the presence of cumulous granitus clouds). What can you do?"

His answer: "Turn off the lights."

Full disclosure: I finished the ground school but never went on to actually flying - I decided my lack of stereopsis might have a negative impact on my ability to land safely.
