The Axe is Back Project

Ok, well that kind of sorts things out.

Thanks for the post.

take it easy

It was my way of dealing with your lack of tact, I was irritated that you would post such things with a grin. I guess you either didn't realize or didn't care that this forum is mostly american. My guess is that you age is the determining factor. Anyway, if everything is cool with tradewater then it's o.k with me too. I would advise you to think before you post next time.

Hey slapper, I'm fine with it. I'm pretty comfortable with the fact that alot of those sunburnt southern boys were pretty handy with a Garand as well as their shotguns. My guess is if maether would ask around in his neighborhood he could find a couple of old fellas that could fill him in on that subject.

Again, I dind't mean to insult anyone, and I'm totally aware of the fact that this forum is mostly american. I just listed some stereotypes, and if you've read my previous posts you shouls have noticed that I'm not a person to judge someone without knowing them, let alone insult them. What I said about fat etc. americans was iń no way meant to reflect my opinion, my intention was to make fun of people who actually believe that all americans own a shotgun and a cowboy hat, and all that other crap. I don't like stereotypes and prejudice, and mocking things I don't like is my way of dealing with them. Much like you, slapper.

So, just to sum this up:

What I said about americans was not intended to display my opinion on americans. I've learned a lot about you guys in my time here, and after all we're all Homo Sapiens sapiens, and no person is better or worse than another one because he/she was born in one country or another. I DO NOT like stereotypes. Whenever I stereotype you guys, I am being IRONIC and mocking everyone who believes these things are actually true.

And if I post something with a grin ( :D ) you should double-check for signs of hidden irony or sarcasm. Hell, sometimes I even lose track of when I was ironic and when I was serious.

Thanks for reading.

If there's anything else to discuss about that matter, please forward blackmail, hate letters, flag-burning videos and molotov cocktails to mrundfeldt (at) gmail.com :D (See? that was a joke. Please don't blackmail me and please refrain from burning german flags.)

phew. long post.

Oh, tradewater, fun fact. I actually have a guy living in my house who tells everyone how the "yanks" came rolling in, defending the freedom of the western world against the soviet steamroller... gotta love old people. We call him the "General".

O.k. so it looks like everything is cool. I am also glad that I didn't resort to stereotypes, b/c I like it around here and i wouldn't like to have lost my membership dues. I can't speak for everyone, but in my opinion we should leave the stereotypes alone in the future.
respectfully, Dave

Thanks tradewater. Hope there's no hard feelings.

Thanks dave. stereotypes stay i the closet from now on.

Martin

(oh god, your name reminds me of a movie... "Dave, what are you doing? Dave, you're scaaaring meee... Daaaaaveeeee" - 2001)

No hard feelings at all. I grew up across the road from a family that came to this country from Germany. Learned a little bit of the language from them. Friendly and hard working folks. What I remember most about them is they rarely (if ever) bathed, had an amazing amount of nose, ear and body hair (and that goes for the girls too), farted and belched constantly and the father went around pinching his daughters on the tits. I'm not sure what the German word for these folks would be, but they had some work to do to come up to "rednecks".:D Just my own personal experience.

I guess all cultures have their own "earthy" types. We don't have the franchise on them. I don't, however, think all Germans are foul smelling, gross, rude and disgusting in their behavior. That would be stereotyping and that might be offensive to you. I'm glad you have decided to keep a lid on that just as I have.

We could get this back within the realm of topical Becker Forum banter by polling our members to determine what the stereotypical Beckerhead might be. Like, I'll just start with myself and say that I'm somewhat overweight, own not only a shotgun, but one specifically designed for home defense and it is (GASP!!) black in color. I also own two black rifles that can be configured to carry as many as 100 rounds in one magazine. I also hold a concealed weapons permit and carry every minute of every day that I'm away from the house, and I specifically chose my job so that I could carry (as part of the job) when I'm there too. Oh, I do own several variations of a cowboy hat, though the ones I wear the most are more often described as an "outback hat," sort of akin to what Crocodile Dundee wears I suppose. While I am not a Republican, that's only because they're too damned liberal for my tastes. Patriotic? You betcha, but not to any man, woman or grouping thereof. Not even to the land-mass that is commonly referred to as the good ol' US of A. I'm fervently patriotic to the Constitution. It's tangible. I can understand and follow it. I can swear my allegiance to it in good conscience. Can't do any of that with people or land-masses. Before all of that though, I am God-fearin' first, and devoted and faithful to my wife second.

So raise your hand if you're a Beckerhead who clings to their religion and guns (perhaps only Americans will get that reference - sorry if that's the case), loves their black toys that go bang! 30, 40, or even 100 times before you have to reload, keeps closer tabs on their soul and conscience than they do their waist-line, and thinks a well broke-in Stetson (or reasonable facsimile) is one of the greatest parts of being an American that being an American has to offer.

And I'll bet you everything from a diddle-eyed Joe to a damned if I know that any group of Americans as devoted to self-sufficiency, self-reliance and livin' off the fat of the land as this Beckerhead group is, that most of us are raising our hands right about now.

Good idea BluesStringer!

I am American born. I spent my early formative years living in Europe then back to the US. I enjoy guns and knives (mostly old Finnish puukkos and workin' Beckers). I have a ft job and a small hobby farm. I drive a pickup, & wear western hats and boots. I have hounds that love to track and tree and I spend every free moment I have outside working. If someone mistakes me for a hick/redneck,etc.) too bad. Maethor did not insult me. I think he's a great young man whom I would happily drink a good German beer with. He likes Beckers so we are brothers.

And yes, my hand is up!
