Back in the mid 80s it wasn't uncommon to find me down in the School Boiler room at NC High swapping knives with the janitor. I managed to trade him out of this Camillus "Babe Ruth" Bat knife. He said he found it in the early 50s while sweeping under the bleachers. Can you imagine..A KNIFE in a school!! Oh the shock!! ;)..

That's an interesting piece Randy. I wonder if they were sold at the ballparks?

Speaking of knives at school reminds me of the time I took my new 12" Mexican Bowie knife with bullhorn handle (my dad used to travel into deep Mexico) and fringed leather sheath, in for 6th grade show & tell. I wore it on my belt and walked to school with it. I did the show & tell and then my teacher just asked me to keep it in my desk the rest of the day, instead of wearing it. Nobody got excited or worried about it at all. Walked home that day wearing it, and was told it was a good show & tell by my teacher and classmates.

Times have changed. That was 1960. :)

I had a book that gave all the information on this one..but it has managed to stay hidden for the past 10 years..

RandyW,

If you cruise over to the Camillus forum and type in Babe Ruth in the search, you'll get access to several informative threads about that knife.

Just a thought.
