The Barlows

Boker makes (Or made, I don't know) a single blade Barlow. I bought two of them for $7.00 each at a gunshow once. Not fancy, but has a nice blade and oak scales. Might check with Boker to see if they're still available.

Boker's US HQ is here in the Denver area. Sadly, they don't have an outlet store. (Actually, I shouldn't complain, given how much I've spent at the Spyderco outlet...).

Anyhow, I hear Boker's customer service is top notch. Also, their staff seem to monitor the BF Boker subforum regularly if you want to inquire over there.

I did pick up a new Barlow today, RU-KO Solingen marked. Looks nib, lots of snap. My first sheepsfoot barlow. The main blade is swedged on one side to the nail nick, second blade has no marking.

I like the looks of that. Did you use it at all? How's the edge holding up?

It looks like a well made Barlow and I think the sheepsfoot blade would work nicely in that pattern. Do you know if the "RU-KO Solingen" stamped knives are truely made in Germany or elsewhere?

Morablades...just got it today so I don't know how the edge will hold, I think it is carbon steel tho from the way it sharpened.

KnifeHead...The blade is marked Solingen Germany, the blade was likely made there, who knows where it was assembled. It is a solid thing and heavy for a Barlow, bolsters are solid, plastic scales. I use it soon and see how the edge holds up.
