The Beer Scout Knife

When will the clip and spear points be available again?

Hopefully, they'll come 'round again, although I'm not sure anyone knows when. I wouldn't be surprised if GEC were to take a break from all #15 caplifter knives for a while, given the vast-for-GEC-production-numbers rollout of these recent sheepsfoot Scouts, in all their iterations.

But one never knows, with GEC. ;)

I just joined the club:

What a beaut!

P, curious as to your opinion on the micarta Scout? Love mine for some weird reason

I love this thing. Love it.

The no-frills micarta renders it a very grab-able, no worries knife, perfect for this utilitarian pattern. Not that I'm not fond of the others, but this one has clamored for more-more-more in the few days since I've had it, and it's been fun to oblige.

The knife also holds its appeal in the company of others with more distinguished pedigree...

I'm really glad to have it. :)

Kind of missing my ebony, but the saw cut was worth it. It is my favorite. Cool run of knives all around.

I'm glad to see this micarta scout went to such a loving home Sarah, I hope that snooty TC doesn't turn up his covers at the side of non threaded cap bolsters :grumpy:

The TC Barlow's arrogance barely masks its growing bitterness that it is being left home (in its faux distress) while the Scout is busy forming devoured-apple patina, assisting our hero in affixing dealer plates to the day's ride(s), and just generally getting to go 'long and do whatevs.

(Thanks!)

Yes! Great pic Luc! :D

As promised, the Beer Scout is in the RFP.

Beautiful! I love that (cocobolo?) with sheepfoot and bottle opener. I somehow totally missed this model when it came out. I've not been on the site as often this past couple months, so apparently it came out during that time - I like it! I have my #15 spear/bottle opener and love it dearly. It's my official BBQ and party knife. :D

Thank you sir! The cocobolo they sourced for this run is great. Its nice and dark and has a lot of character.

What did they call the GEC #15 that had a caplifter and clip point?

And here is a favorite #15 Boy's Radio Knife, proudly displaying genuine apple slice patina. The Crown Lifters were run after these (if I remember correctly):

I am hoping that the sell out of these Beer (and Soda and Gun) Scouts will encourage GEC to do similar runs but with clip blades and then spear blades.

They made a few with spear blades and sold them at the 2015 Rendezvous. There may very well be spear bladed scouts in the future. The sheepfoot scouts w/ caplifter were sold at the 2014 Rendezvous and then the "beer scout" production run followed. I hope they use the shorter "scout" shield on future runs.

I believe this entire run were SFO's by Mike (Collectors Knives), Derrick (KnivesShipFree) and Barry (Gunstock Jack), so I imagine if there is enough interest they could do another run.

I don't disagree about the possibility of more SFOs but the "beer scouts" were all a regular production run. Only the "soda scouts" (Collectorknives.net), "gun scouts" (Gunstock Jack) and camel bone with hotdog shields (Knives Ship Free) were SFOs.

I'm with you on the shield. I bought both of Mike's SFOs because, since I don't drink beer, I didn't want the beer scout shield.
