So, I was just fooling around online sunday night, looking up various spydies, seeing if there was anything to satiate my folder fix, when I stumbled across the Endura 4 wave. Now, I've known about this knife for a while, and I've even seen it face to face in the shank shop in my area, and I NEVER thought I would add one to my collection. Having spent years mastering the standard thumb-hole flick, I would be damned if I would resign myself to the autopilot "wave" option, which I had always thought was a gimick for the poorly coordinated. :jerkit:
Still, I needed my fix, so I figured I'd do a little research. Everyone liked it, but that alone wasn't enough to persuade me to abandon my hopes of a Salt 1 SE. Then, by some random fluke, I ended up on lighthound, a websight that I had never heard of before, and BAM!!! I was blown away. They were selling this puppy for <$44, a full $10 less than E4W on ebay, and at least $5 less than the salt 1. This I just couldn't pass up. Even if I hated the thing, I could sell it on ebay for a profit, so I knew I had a sure thing.
Well, thanks to lighthound's visciously fast turnaround, this baby was in my mailbox by wendsday afternoon. Dizzy with glee, I rushed as fast as I could up the 17 floors to my apartment (read: I took the elevator.) I burst though my front door, starting my budies who I had left up their drinking.
"Its on!" I cried. My friends, who are no stranger to my addiction, immediatley knew that a new knife had arrived.
I slashed open the box with my Centofonte 3 (satisfying) tore through the bubble wrap with my teeth, and slid open the spyderco box. A sharp gasp, a quickened pulse, a healthy level of drool; everyone was a fan. With its subtle navy blue-grayish handle and weird unicorn protrusion, the knife was definitley something new for everyone. I passed her around as we admired the firmness of the dual skelotinsed liners and the excelent new texturing, but then I got jealous and snatched it back. It was time to open this puppy.
I cliped it to a right hand front pocket, did a little clint eastwood whistle for good measure, then I drew. SNAP!!! Without even intending to, I had engaged the wave feature, and I was now holding a fully locked open blade. Needless to say, I was shocked! The wave was incredibly effective, far more so than the cheap CS wave on my buddies Ti-lite (still a great knife btw.) My amigo's were even more impressed, and demanded that I hand over the knife so they could try. Well, to give some idea of how popuar this thing was, we abondoned a night on the town for a night of knife fiddling and re-runs of The Shield. Trully a satisfying knife.
I would like to thank the good people at spyderco (and I suppose emerson as well) for creating such a fantastic knife. I've owned a few spyderco's and benchmades, and this is by far the cheapest and nicest one of the bunch!!
I would also like to send out a thanks to the good texans at lighthound, who charged less and delivered more than the competition. Not only was shiping incredibly fast, they even threw in a nice little micro light as a stocking stuffer! Definitley a good place to get Sypderco's.
Heres the link to my knife, in case anyone is interested.
