The Best Custom Tactical

Quick question. If i send my Sebenza to CR and have him fit the handles with blue bark mammoth ivory, and a nice black lip MOP inlay on a larger thumbstud of my own design, does the knife now fit the definition of custom, it may now be unique, or can no knife leaving CRK be a custom because of the company's primary focus being production knives?

Megalobyte, customs are generally considered to knives made by a single maker, not by a factory or a number of workers in a small shop like that of Reeve or Randall. As I said earlier, there have been massive threads about this on the Custom Forum.

But since you asked;)...

My "best custom tactical" folder is Tom Mayo's TNT.

It is my "holy grail" of folders for several reasons. I want a folder that will stand up to whatever task I put it to. I like the fact that the materials used are minimal, yet some of the best available.

I have owned other handmades and customs, yet I would not think of putting to task most of these as I have my TNT's.

I do not hesitate to use my TNT's for everything from cutting hoses that spring a pinhole leak under the hood of my 4 runner, to cutting up chicken or fish, or breaking bones in said food items in the kitchen. I have even used my TNT to scrape burned biscuits off of a baking pan, scraping tiny bits of the tray off in the process:D

The TNT is a marvel of skill, beauty, and craftsmanship.
After I get it all "gunked up" under the hood of my 4 runner, bloody and nasty in the field or the kitchen, or gritty and caked with Mississippi "Delta Gumbo" mud cutting vines and the like from my boots when I take my sons snake hunting, it is a simple matter to wash and clean my TNT with soap and water:D . I never dry them off, and honestly don't remember the last time I thought to lube them. They are the smoothest folders I have ever had in my hand.

Don't even get me started about their superior cutting ability compared to other folders I've owned in the same price range:D  :D .

As far as fixed, I have several fav's there.

Well, I gotta go to work...

bladezealot, you gave me an education. I own a small TNT hawkbill in STellite 6K. The knife is very sharp and sharpens very easily but I tended to use it for fine cutting because I hand heard stories about Talonite rolling when it hits something hard. I figured Stellite 6K would be the same. I guess that it must be much tougher than I thought if you use the knife for all the stuff you describe.

I never said I did not have to touch up the edge:D .

Part of my everyday gear is a spyderco doublestuff { I use it's pouch with a little jeweler's rouge as a strop}and a Diasharp extra fine stone. I carry these in the same belt pouch as my pen, gerber multi-plier, and a Scott Black friction folder { a sheeple friendly 1.75 inch blade for work}.

I do not hesitate to use my TNT's for whatever I feel a folder is appropriate, by the same token, I do not hesitate to sharpen them:D

btw, good topic, Anthony

oh...I came home for lunch:D
