Very cool, thanks.

How does the RAM compare to the MUDD? I love opening and closing my RAM, it's endless fun. Is the 0500 the same way?

No problemo. Anytime.

RAM is just the most fun little smooth flipper. 0500 is a ratchetty opening mechanism. Both have the similar button lock release.

In my opinion, a revamped RAM from ZT with premium steel and handle material would be a winner.

Victorinox locksmith. Had one of these through college, and it was my best friend. Those were the days when I had issues with multitools. Big locking blade, saw, awl, drivers, and the sentinel style handle. Fantastic knife.

Just picked up a ZT0780 and I have to say this beast is awesome! Rumor has it only like 400 or so were made before getting disco'd, which stinks because its a great edc.

I like the blade shape, size and skull crusher base but it's a failure in the opening mechanisms. The thumb studs are too small, sharp and angular. The flipper is a joke and without a vigorous wrist flick it does not deploy. Pity!

Don't even get me started on this! Wait you already did lol

Spyderco Bi-Fold- was discontinued a while before the law in CA would allow me to own one because it was technically an automatic, even though it's got like a 1in blade

Spyderco Poliwog (G10)- this was always the coolest looking knife to me, why such a sweet small folder would be discontinued I still don't know. They sell for over $200 on eBay if/when you can find them

Brous Blades Silent Soldier Flipper-
Whenever I see these on eBay they're listed for about $500 an still they don't last long.

Cold Steel Recon 1 (axis)- I know there were some issues between CS and BM with this. Because of the lock but I like it so much more than the newer one. (Luckily I've owned a bunch, they're not that hard to find or that expensive)

Spyderco SuperLeaf - this to me is the perfect hard use EDC folder. It's better than the ParaMilitary because it's got a really stout VG-10 blade so there's not a weak tip, it's got a wonderful deep carry pocket clip and it's smooth as hell. I'm a proud owner of one but I'm afraid to use it because I know they're slowly but surely becoming harder to find.

+1 for the guy that said the BM Bone Collector- I got a regular size axis one with walnut handles for me and a mini one for my girlfriend.

And the list goes on for me, every time I see a really cool knife I find out it's been discontinued and they're hard to find and when found they're very expensive like the Emerson Commander Karambit, that knife is so epic looking, but this post is long enough, thanks for reading if you were able to get through it!

.

They were an awesome design for a general purpose outdoor knife.

I had that exact same knife - the first BM I ever bought and one of the first real quality knives I got. Wish I still had it but lost it many years ago. Still bummed about it.

I'm going to throw in my vote for the previous edition Cold Steel Voyagers/Vaqueros.

The full six inch X2 and Vaquero Grande in VG-1 were just that tiny bit longer than the current XL Voyager versions that I do own.

Of course the price people charge for them second hand is extravagant for an extra half inch of blade.

Mini Skirmish:

I had a mini skirmish as well but had a hard time opening it due to the chambering on the thump holes, i ended up trading it away. One under-rated knife that I had that is now discontinued that I liked was the kershaw zing.

Benchmade AFCK 806 series
Benchmade Skirmish series (but without the chamfering of the opening hole)
Benchmade 750 Pinnacle
Kershaw RAM
Kershaw original Random Task in 440V
Spyderco original Vesuvius (compression lock)
Spyderco ATR titanium

I have to agree, these are two knives, I wish I had not traded away.

Another vote for the BM AFCK. I'd love to see a TI framelock flipper version released. Or if that's too much to ask at least a TI framelock version. The afck was my first benchmade and probably my introduction the higher end knives. The best thing I had before that was FRN spydies. I still have it today. Great knife!

Spyderco Superhawk again, and the merlin. I would love to see Spyderco bring back some of their hawkbills other than just the h1s and harpy.

WESTERN w49 FIXED BLADE BOWIE...

I was lucky enough to be given one that was in need of a little tlc. The blade was bent and rusted. After hammering it back to true and polishing then forcing patina here it is.

This is the one all those cheap imitations came from. It's so well balenced and feels great in hand. The blade steel isn't overly thick. And the swedge is ground at an angle that allows real sharpening. (Mine is full sharpened!)
It would be a vicious fighting bowie even without the changes bill bagwell suggests. Personally I like it just how it is. it's also quite a capable wilderness blade.

-Regular bg42 Sebenza (the small is still my favorite knife I have ever owned)
-BM mini Skirmish and AFCK (really wish these had tip up clips, but still awesome)
-Lone Wolf Harsey (I preferred the T1, but to each their own. again, tip up carry would have made them perfect)

These are the only ones off-hand that I can think of that I wish I had gotten 5 each of (had I been able to afford that)

Does anyone know how much a Kershaw RAM went for? Or MSRP. And how long ago did they go discontinued?
