What does everyone think is the best H-1 offering? I'm thinking the Tasman Salt or The Atlantic. If I could include models yet to be available my vote would go the Saver Salt. What do you all think?

My favorites have been my Pacific Salts. Although I'm really looking forward to the utility fixed blades in H-1.

My Pacific Salt has been one of the top numbers in my EDC rotation in the last couple of months; the fact that I don't have to worry about wiping it down after I'm done running or during a quick rain shower should it get wet in my pocket is a huge bonus as far as I'm concerned. The quality is very good, and the FRN handles are comfortable---they're essentially the same handles as the older Enduras and also, I found, the Matriarch.

The blade is a very good length, and the hollow grind does not deter its slicing ability; it's a good cutter in all dimensions of the definition. It's a good size for all of your everyday chores and can handle most big jobs too. I got the fully serrated model, as I really like the SpyderEdge pattern. Also, the tip is very sturdy and is suitable for at least light prying jobs. I would not hesitate to use this knife in an emergency or as a rescue/LE knife.

The clip is very good and the finish is hard to scratch. It's a tough piece of metal but easily conforms to clip securely yet easily to any pocket, waistband, etc. The only qualm I have about the design is that its lanyard hole is too small to accept my favorite parachute cord. Another notable feature is the enlarged 14mm SpyderHole. It's fast and smooth to open and also accepts the "Ziptie Wave" sometimes talked about around here.

The lock is first-rate, very strong and dependable. It's also rustproof, which I believe is well-thought-out; some lesser companies would make the blade resistant to corrosion but forget the minor things. From the H1 blade and lock to the FRN handles to the titanium pocket clip, it's all very hard to make this knife get any discoloration or rust anywhere.

So, all in all, the PS is the perfect size for EDC, and it's light, thin, and comfortable to carry. I really enjoy mine and it's a bargain at about $50 around the internet. It comes VERY sharp, is easy to resharpen, and, I hear, becomes harder and improves edge retention with each sharpening (this, I understand, is because it's a work-hardened steel. I'm not sure if this claim is entirely true). I may have gone a little too much into detail---pretty much a whole review, I guess---but I can't say how much I like this knife. It's a great deal and a great performer.

God bless you, America, and our men and women overseas.

KATN,

Wade

Of the current ones, PE Atlantic modified to a more wharncliffe style tip. Am hoping the Saver will be offered in PE as well. If so, this guy will have a little brother. :D

Does the Atlantic have steel liners inside the FRN like an Endura 4? Just wondering how you put on those cool scales.

As for "Best" H-1 blade, I like my SE salt 1. It's a very light weight back up to the mini manix. I dont edc it, but it ends up on me for a few days now. Blade might be a little small for a stand alone, but works very nicely for the times that I need a SE blade.

I think the entire Salt lineup is really nice, but my personal favorite is the Salt I SE. The size is right for me, I like the versatile bladeshape, and I think that this knife and H1 are both best in SE.

No best for me.... they whole Salt family is tops  ..... H-1 for me, is better than sliced bread....the whole corrosion-proof steel that has more than decent edgeholding properties "blows my mind" ..... i grew up in S.Florida....so Rust was always an issue.... my PE/SE Salts get the most of my pocket time..... so I guess my "corrosion-proof Delica3" is my favorite H-1 blade to at the moment...

Nope, plain one piece FRN. That's STR's work - stabilized Birdseye Maple, which I supplied, over titanium liners and backspacer. :D
