Hi, I’m looking for a decent knife four utility purposes, preferable fixed blade, with spear point, and no larger than 7" overall. I’m willing to pay up to 70 bucks for it. Would like it not to have a black finish of any type.

Is there a knife out there that fits my needs? Tell me please
:D

thanks in advance for your help,;)

I would think 7" OAL would be a bit tad small...
For fixed blades, I personally have no idea. I found that carrying a fixed blade isn't that common partly due to the laws.
You can pick out a lot of good folders under $70US, but I'm not sure how well they'll fit your criteria.
Things that came into my mind are:
CRKT M16 (spear point would be longer >7"OAL)
Camillus EDC (not spear point but under 7"OAL)
Spyderco Native Spear Point, overall 7"
HTH

I'm not too sure the length, but check out the BM 350...very sweet piece. Also, look around for the old BM Mini Darkstar...also another quality piece. I also recommend the Native, Ryan Model 7, and the M16.
Good luck,
Matt

I'm realy looking for a fixed blade, i love the knives that are being sugested but I realy am looking for a fixed. as for a folder, that will be what i look for next :D my current one should last me a long while and fits me well, that would be the little knife in my porofile ;) keep the ideas comming, I love any knife with a spearpoint Btw :D just want more :)

With fixed blades, you gotta get a little more length. Say the blade is a three-incher. What's that leave for your hand to grasp? 4"?? Then, thinking about stuff like finger guards or pinkie catches, and you don't have that much to hold onto.

Add to the mix the sheath - if it's kydex, you'll have a lot of the knife in the sheath with not a lot to grab onto in the event you want fast deployment. Where are you gonna wear the sheath?

A seven inch fixed blade is generally a neck knife or a boot, IMO.

I would advise checking out a good site, like ONE STOP KNIFE SHOP, do a search on fixed blades, or review all the production models out there and consider some of the guidelines you have seen in this thread.

Hi Willem,

I can recommend the Greco Dangler available at www.cqcknives.com

I have one and really like it. Good steel, nice compact size, very efficient package overall. It is in your size\price range also. Here are the specs:

BLADE LENGTH: 3"
OVERALL LENGTH: 7"
WEIGHT: 1.5 oz
BLADE THICKNESS: .134"
BLADE MATERIAL: 8670 Steel
FINISH: Black Micarta
SHEATH: Black leather with clip
COMMENTS: The "DANGLER" models are all around knives that can handle any task. These knives are the perfect size for personal protection. The sheaths allow the knives to be secured in the back pocket for conventional carry by clipping it to a belt loop, or it can be worn as a neck knife by attaching it to a button inside of a shirt. For hunting and fishing, the sheaths can be attached to any ring on a vest or belt for easy access.

They are only $55 +S&H. For that you get a handmade knife by a respected maker with great quality steel in a very usable configuration. One heads-up-the sheath is made of very light weight leather; not bad, but a little light. I am looking into an aftermarket sheath to make EDC a bit more secure.

Don't worry about it being too small for a fixed blade. Small fixed blades have many advantages to them, safety being one of the biggest. The handle design is such that it really feels good and well balanced for a small blade. In other words it doesn't 'feel' like a 'little' knife.

I would also look at:

Benchmade Out Bounder (BM model 180), Benchmade Nimravus Cub, and Black Jack 'Small' available at www.newgraham.com

One last thing, I would highly recommend checking the for sale forum here and look for a 'used or user' handmade or custom from a Forum knife maker. There are great deals to be had and you will be buying something special rather than something production.

Good Luck in your quest...

Mongrel

Check out Benchmades Nimravis Cub. It might be a bit over 7in. but not by much. I've carried one w/a M2 blade daily for years and it's still cutting fine.

Ah yes but the Nimravus has the fatal flaw, it's ALL BT2.
Thas right kids... BT2, the worst black coating there is (cept maybe for that crap they throw on the Glock Combat Knives)

Btw just wanted to mention Im 5'5, explaining why I don't want a super large blade.

Yup! There ya go. Buck Mini-Diamondback. Decent enough steel, within your length guidelines and dirt freakin' cheap to boot!
The Benchmade Outbounder is also a solid choice. I have one and it is just a sweet little knife. No bull.

I'd still think a 7" fixed is a tad small unless you want to go for a neck/boot knife.
What do you want the knife for?
If it's utility, the CRKT F4 would be a nice piece. 5.5" OAL, 2.5" blade. However, it suffers in the handle that you won't be able to get your pinky on the handle.
Another thing with fixed blades is that people nowadays are so damn paranoid that carrying & using a fixed blade would caused unwarranted attention. I did carry a fixed blade a couple of times, but I never pulled it out in public, partly because I do have a folder to handle jobs when people are around, and secondly, I have enough dirty look and comments with folders... I think they'd run to a cop and scream that I'll kill him if I draw one out.
Still, they have their advantages. They're much more durable and much easier to use (if you don't have good manual dexterity).

First off, I do like folders it just I want some varaity. as for causing a sture in the mist of a croud, I won't half to wory about that because it wont be used in public, seeing that i would get many "looks" a 15 year ould kid with a knife on my belt, (I live in an area where people are idiots who have way to much money and way to little smarts  ) and when I do use a knife in public I bring out the tiny babybutter bean. As for lenth, anywhere from 7" to 8", would be fine.

Hm... if you're not going to use it publicly, I think you'd enjoy the BK&T series. You could pick up the BK7 for $50 bucks (i heard on the forum) and they're great fixed blades! However I think it doesn't quite fit the criteria.
I'm sure others would be able to help much better. I don't have much fixed blades.

I just got this in the mail today:
cam-arc-lite.jpg

It's not a spear point, but it cost me whopping $15 plus s/h, and it's just a hair under 7 inches. Not really made for hard use since the skeleton handle isn't all that ergonomic, but I've been playing with it all day and I'm pretty fond of it. Can't beat that price.

try a custom by john greco, they run around $70, and i think he makes some smaller ones i have a 5" tanto penetrator and am happy w/it, esp for the $, maybe also a cammilus arclite, or livesay woo, both under $40

i havent had that bad a luck w/the BM BT coating, doesnt seem to wear better/worse than MOST others, body cote stuff excluded of course, wouldnt let the BT stop me from getting a nimravus, a good knife imho, and one i intend to acquire soon, would be cool to have a nimravus w/body cote coating and on scene tac sheath, a GREAT combo imho, i might have to think on that, hopefully my M2 nealy pesh kabz w/MASS system buds working on will arrive in about 2 wks......
