The Best Little HI Bowie This Side of The World

Thank you all for the kind words about my past. I sure ain't no hero and don't never want to be. They all hang out in Arlington. Link to you tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPKXG7beY-c From 1 minute into the film to 3:24. Made by my friend in New Zealand, Robert Inkpen. Have a few flight sim videos of my gunships, too.

Oh, man! I love this little frog stabber. Been carrying it around the back yard all day just waiting to be jumped by a rabid squirrel with a knife or a possum packing a 12 gauge. The two bar dogs were a bit skeered while I was doin' my Bruce Lee impersonation and side kickin' the porch post on the smithy. Tomorrow I get to do PIRATES! Arrrgh, pumkins! I'll shiver yer timbers and whittle ye down fer size, matey!

Fancy space age aluminium? At least we got 48mm of that in our apc. Rumor had it that it couldn't even stop a light machine gun round. Maybe it helped in a helicopter high up in the air when the bullet got slowed down by gravity? ;-)

This helicopter was the only one I have ever taken a ride in. Strapped on a bench, the door open and then some tight right and left curves. So tight that me even lying down saw either only forest or only sky. Gave me goosebumps because until then I had only seen this model only in uncountable so called "anti" war movies which I like. It was a lot of fun especially being pulled up with a winch (couldn't land because of pretend mines)
Needless to say everybody from my unit wanted to be the pretend victim of violent natives after a car accident, even if it ment lots of pretend blood on the uniforms and sometimes a pretend hanging from a tree (if the to be trained rescuers were to helpless)
We did this a couple of times a day for 3 months so we all got lots of turns but never got tired of flying.
Until 1989 my dad led a bunch of Mi24 which I bet was lots of fun too :-p

I really like the knife and can relate to the design even if on a more superficial level only. Its pants are simply great, no surprise there.

You are not a hero? How about humble hero?

Whooo, That is a prime example of the sort of craftsmanship Bawanna and Pugs are known for. I am constantly blown away by the talented folks in this little group on the best forum on the internet.

Bookie, I bet that knife hasn't gotten too far away from you since you unwrapped it. I have to definately agree with Jens' assessment. After discussing it many late nights (and many bottles) with a close friend and mentor who was a door gunner during that war I think I understand a bit more than most who haven't experienced it, but no way anyone who wasn't there can truly understand what "hero" means to those men. But be assured Bookie that there are many of us who do appreciate what you did and what it meant then and now. I am glad that Bawanna and Pugs were able to create such an awesome tribute. One that turned out incredible and that is full of such meaning as well as being based on an HI blade so it has it's soul to add to the final piece.

Incredible!
