As far as I know there are 5 Military models out there. How would you rank them?

Personally I would go:
  1. Military S90V
  2. Military BG-42
  3. Military S30V
  4. Military D2
  5. Military S60V

S90V - Would be at the top just because it's probably the only production folder to use that steel.

BG-42 - Beats out the S30V Military because of the carbon fiber scales.

S30V - The most common one. It's not S90V but then again, S30V is no slouch.

D2 - Below the S30V only because of the slightly lower rust resistance

S60V - Haven't used or held on of these but I have heard stories about how it's a nightmare to re-profile and sharpen.

Your opinions?

My top five?

1. H1 Military with yellow G-10 handles (to be released)
2. S90V Military with peel-ply CF handles
3. 1095 Military with Desert Ironwood handles (to be released)
4. CPM D2 Military with FG G-10 handles
5. S30V Military with orange G-10 handles

No, I don't actually know if they are coming out with the #1 and #3 models, but damn I wish they would.

I did a double take when I saw #1 and #3...then I scrolled down :D

I would donate one of my kidneys to Spyderco if it helped them make a 1095 Military.

I would like a Military with a 1095 blade too but I would worry about corrosion around the internal pivot area from regular use. If you used that knife with aplomb and for all types of situations you'd have to keep the internals pretty well coated with lube I would think

Only one? Wimp. :D

My rational is it's cheaper (much) then S30V, less wear on belts and grinding. I'd buy at least two probably four. I'd also be just as happy with something like 01, 52100, or W2.

I'd probably do regular Tuf-Cloth/Tuf-Glide applications.

I'd take an M4 Military too as long as they don't coat it! :D 1095 , M4 or anything else in that category, I'll take responsibility for the blade in order to keep it uncoated ;)

M4 Military (I would like mine coated) with desert camo G10 and a compression lock! I think I would buy 9000 of them.

I'll take M4 coated or uncoated, just as long as we could get M4 into the Millie. I just love that steel, and after sharpening my M4 Mule last night the great sharpness reminded me why. Out of the S30V and CPM D2 Millies (the two I have) I greatly prefer the CPM D2 model. It gets sharper and has better edge holding, and I haven't had any corrosion issues in my climate. In fact, M4 is also pretty worry free for me since I just wipe down my blades after use and use tuf glide (at least I used it on a Benchmade in M4 that I sold). On my Krein Ultimate Caper in M4 I haven't used any protectant since I use it as a paring knife sometimes, but I am thinking mineral oil on that and my M4 Mule would be a good way to protect from rust and keep the knives food safe.

How could S60V be harder to re-profile and/or sharpen than S90V? I have a 440v Milli and haven't found it any more difficult to deal with than any of the other premium steels. I would think S90V would be the most difficult of the bunch to re-profile.

A Milli in M4 would be hard to pass up, think I'd prefer 52100 to 1095.

I'm just a Millie noob as I only own one and I use it, but I'm still looking forward to the Ti Millie, whenever it may come.

Sure I'd love a few other millies like an M4 version, but of the ones already made the BG42 remains my favorite.

Love the S90 for the steel and the detent, would love a M4 model but I would give the other kidney for a 1095 millie with a full convex blade.
