The best small knives-- loose or clipped?

I think the Umfaan is a bit pricey for me. Also, I had a Chive-- see thread: Attack of the Chives

For you non-clip carriers-- do you use a sheath? and who makes good generic sheaths?

About as overpriced as any production knife on the market...for those of you who've bought one, I have some really valuable swamp land for sale... ;)
 
Since Pud said that his knife must be under 2.5", I think that the William Henry Kestrel would be a better choice. Another small knife which is interesting (and pretty inexpensive) is the SOG Flash 1. This knife has a blade of 2.25 that is flat ground AUS-8. What makes the knife fun is that it has assisted opening and the SOG version of the Axis Lock plus a safety. I've seen these as low as $39.95 at www.knifecenter.com
