The Big Bad Mammoth Thread

Not a CRK but equally beautiful (it's an Alan Davis). Gotta love that caramel bark! A gift from my friend you know who you are. I am speechless.

I'm drooling too for some blue shark-tooth damascus, Fooj that Mnandi is haunting me :D

It looked like this after about 6 mo. of front pocket EDC. You can get this look much faster by basting with water before carrying (some folks wrap their Mnandis in plastic wrap to protect it during this forming process).

A couple of my favorites:

Okay, since Serg most recently opened the door to non-CRK pieces in this big, bad Mammoth thread .... here is my most prized piece featuring some Mammoth bark. A nice little Andre Van Heerden folder. It's the only of my Mammoth bark knives that once I pick it up, could spend hours looking at it!!!

Other side is equally nice, but it the presentation side that really captures my attention.

Holy Crap!!! Stunning!

OK, here are the rules ... you can post one non CRK if you posted a CRK already ... :D

Dennis that mammoth folder is beyond words. It is a handcrafted work of art.

Very nice! Now .... if anyone has not yet caught wind of this, you might want to stop by the Custom & Handmade Knives forum for an interesting read on a proposed total US ban on Ivory (with no source distinction). And, it's probably best to address your concerns/make comments in that forum thread rather than here ..... it would distract too much from looking at all the beautiful Ivory!!!!

er you mean current Ivory right? A bit silly banning mammoth ivory from animals that have been dead for over 10,000 years :D

I have seen pics of that scrimshawed Mnandi before. Incredibly beautiful! The other two are not too bad either!
