My nephew, Travis, borrowed the max amount when in college and used the money for all sorts of things -- like engagement rings for his galpal, 3 or 4 computers, cars, clothes -- nothing for educational purposes. He went to the bank recently to borrow more money and was shocked at the interest rate the bank wanted.
