Hey guys and Gals,

Here is one to have some fun with. I am curious for those of you that have an good idea of weight, or actually weigh your knives. At what point does a EDC, Folders here only Please, Excluding: How Broad, Thick, and Long is become too heavy for you to carry. I would Guess the majority of us would prefer a lighter knife, this said I really don't mind and sometimes prefer a knife with some attitude behind it as long as it is not pulling my pants down. What cha think? TD

My option wasnt on there. I dont consider weight at all. So I guess over 7 ounces is the best option.

The extra double stack mag for my glock that I carry daily weighs more than the folder and small fixed blade put together that I also carry most days. Do I want my knives to be as lite as possible? Not really, for their specs I do want them to carry their weight efficiently though. No need to be wasteful for no reason. Hard to get a big old 4" bladed folder under 3.743 ounces.

I'm not going to worry about a couple ounces though.

I carry whatever knife I decide for that day, or even multiples. Weight is not a factor.

Every day I pick 2 EDCs to carry for the day. I consider size, blade shapes, intended use, ergonomics, even handle materials sometimes...but I don't care what they weigh.

Five ounce max means I can carry a large Sebenza or a Zaan. I don't need/want anything larger/heavier/thicker than that.
The handle width of about 0.460" hits a sweet spot for me. Titanium scales; framelock. Blade thickness 0.125"-0.140".
That's where I'm at.

Over four ounces on a single side is a no go for me. I will do up to 6 ounces total, distributed over two sides (L / R). At the moment I have a 3.2 oz folder on the left and a 2.5 oz folder on the right.

All my edc are under 4 ounces with my most carried ones under 3 ounces. I'm very conscious of the weight I put in my pockets.

I like my spyderco endura for its pocket friendly size and weight but don't mind a little heavier. I voted for 5 oz, I find 5 oz and heavier to weigh down my pocket too much for knives with a 3-4 inch blade length. It all seems kinda silly though, I carry a Glock 19 with spare mag, iPhone, keys, 2x Endura's, pen light, and a wallet. I think the knives and my flashlight are the lightest items I carry, besides my wallet.

Depends on my clothes. Weight isn't a factor with jeans and my sturdy belt, but when I have to wear the thinner material of a suit or lightweight shorts, heavier knives tend to bog the ensemble down too much.

Honestly weight doesn't bother me. Im always wearing jeans or heavy duty work pants so I never notice the weight, and during use I prefer a hefty-feeling knife. I never read a knife's weight when I'm shopping for a new knife. I carry a slipjoint in my shirt pocket, and even then a knife gets too bulky long before it gets too heavy.

Weight isn't a consideration for me. I've been carrying a ZT 0562 nearly every day since getting it, but I have comfortably carried a DOC.

One of my favourite folders to carry is an A.G. Russell Sunfish Lockback....which comes in at a whopping 10 ounces.

So I don't really care about the weight.

Could not tell you what any of my folders weigh. I do normally prefer a light weight folder though. Has not always been like that. Used to love the Buck 110 or 112 as EDC.
