Thanks bro. That ws the only thing I could imagine, but didn't know for sure.
Yes, the faceted point. I always thought that it looked as if someone had "forgotten" something there and had to go back and rework it.(vbeseg

The HI Katana has already proven itself through proper testing. I just hope no one ever has to use one for its intended purpose.
A katana, khukuri or shotgun, they're all gonna be messy.

Khukuri FAQ

The point of a katana is actually quite complicated in subtle ways ... it's designed for slashing, not thrusting.... There's a good article on it at http://swordforum.com -- that's a great place to learn about katanas in general, and so is www.netsword.com though they are oriented more toward European swords.

Tidal wave is tsunami ... I don't know what tatsumi means, if anything ... maybe one of our Japanese members can translate it -- if it isn't too obscene to translate on a family forum.

Japanese is a notoriously risky language for foreigners to speak; everything depends on inflections ... there are many stories of venerable martial artists coming to America and American martial arts students try to welcome them with a bit of memorized Japanese and it comes out something like "Your elbow is irritating my armpit" or "I see you've been dipping your head in sheep manure" or worse....

I've been trying to keep away from katana thread as possible, for I can't put my hands on one in Japan without legality problem, it just makes makes me drool flooding over till I'm drowned.

A tsunami is a wave, not a tidal but of earthquake. Tidal wave is Taka-shio (big wave). Tatsumi is a popular surname. The meaning is originally "dragon and snake", it can be "southeast" in direction context, or "year of dragon and year of snake" in time context.

Hope this helps.
