The birthing of Jumbo

Ray,
Here's the first piece I have. It's part of a full elk rack. Brow tine is right next to the crown.

This is the other half of the same rack. Has the brow tine right next to the crown. Pieces one and two are hefty and thick, but are light colored. Dye, obviously can take care of the color.

This one has a real nice character to it. No crown, but nice and dark with good texture.

Scott, Now for the big question. Are your hands small, medium, or larger? Thanks for taking the time to take the pictures but I'm thinking I may need to come over with the blade to really tell if one will work. Also need tires so maybe I'll do that to.

Ray,
My hands are probably between medium and large.

I'm in town all week. Just give me a call and let me know when you're coming, and I'll schedule my appointments around you. I have a very flexible schedule this week. My phone number is (360) 896-0526.

Scott, I have decided to go with wood. I've got some gold dyed stab. zebra wood that will work plus I have a better idea what the finish product will look like. Refer to shop drawing below:

Thanks very much for the offer! Still didn't get the tires and I'd rather stay home and work on Jumbo.

You're welcome. I might just throw the pieces into my vehicle the next time I'm over that way, just to see if you'd have a need for a piece of it.

Now the question is, Gold Stabilized Zebrawood? That sounds cool. I've got a bunch of unstabilized zebrawood. Did you send it out yourself to get it stabilized? If you did, where did you send it? WSSI?

I bought a stick of it from Larry who owns Gallery Hardwoods. Here's a picture of a knife I used it on. I should have the handle rough shaped by the time I call it quits tonight.
