Hey what's up guys !
I recently order a BK-22 from Tomar's. I wanted the BK-22 versus the BK-2 because I wanted to see what the new sheath style was all about. It is a pretty good sheath. Compared to the older style nylon sheath that came with my BK-9.
In a nut shell it is built well, it is a bit to long, the straps are a little to short. I really had to stretch them in order to button it up.
The best part by far of the sheath is the ability to remove the sheath without un buckling the belt.
Of course I will be hacking this stock sheath apart and making a kydex/nylon dangler.
So here are the pics.
Thanks

I'd like to see this when you get done with the dangler mod.
I see Tomars has these sheaths listed for a pretty good price. I may pick one up, I like having the molle option to strap it to my ILBE day pack.

I also forgot to mention that the sheath is quite when the straps are buttoned down.
So that is an improvement as well.

The reasoning behind the straps being so tight is that because they are nylon, they will stretch over time. Being super tight at first means they will stretch to a length that will still be a tight fit, just a little easier to manage. Other knives I have used had looser straps to begin with, and after the breaking in period had stretched to being much looser than I would have liked.

Either way, excited to see what you do in the way of mods. Good luck sir!

Nah, I prefer the kydex (version 2) sheath. Not into low hanging nylon dangler carry. I like it high on my belt and snug up against me for all-day wear. Getting in and out of the truck, sitting in chairs, etc. Hope they still offer the kydex sheaths - not eliminate their availability.

Is the BK-22 made of D2 steel I assume?

I believe Bk22 is just a designation that Tomars gave the bk2 with the new sheath. If you look at the pics, the knife is still marked bk2.

Yeah that does make sense.

BK22 is the same as the BK2 1095 CV the only difference is the sheath.
The kydex dangler I will be making will be the same length as the stock plastic sheath. Just easier to wear because it moves with the leg.
Also the other version sheath isn't kydex. It's injection molded nylon.

Very nice. I'm getting seriously antsy for the BK10. I'm not crazy about that kind of sheath, I prefer something with good friction retention so I can grab it and put it away quickly with one hand. It's handy for certain things, the pouch on my BK16 sheath is just the right size for a fullsize MT. I also was playing around and found that my mora companion fits pretty good in the BK16 sheath. The top strap won't button but the bottom one fits perfect. I'm curious if my Condor Rodan would fit in a BK22 or BK10 sheath.

That's cool bro. The BK-10 does look pretty BA. I hope it comes out soon.
