Springstein has a piece in the newest Rolling Stone and there is a pic of him in his "writing room" where beside him on a table are what appear to be numerous slipjoint folders. The caption make mention that he keeps things fans send him but no mention is made of the knives.

I know that James Hettfield of Metallica collects custom knives (Kirby Lambert maybe?). Joe Perry of Aerosmith pulled out a Darryl Ralph folder on a Rachel Ray show when they were doing BBQ backstage. Jerry Garcia and David Crosby were reported to be knife collectors as well.

If you've got the cash and can afford the finer things in life, I suppose that a number of celebs/rock stars would collect knives.

Let's move this over to the "general" forum where it's a better fit.

from the allman brothers band collects knives, i read a report a few months back that his home was broken into and among the items stolen was a knife collection and a handgun:eek::mad:
Im sure there are quite a few famous people that collect they just dont make a big deal out of it for probably the same reasons alot of us dont.

Can someone scan and post the pic? Would be super cool.

well, imho commie is a little harsh, liberal maybe??

this is the US of A though and everyone is welcome to there own opinion on politics be it right or wrong.

I didn't think that pinko would want a knife around.

you're entitled to your opinion but its this kinda crap thats gonna get the thread locked:rolleyes: the Op noticed a picture (knife related!) commented on it and since this is general knife discussion your comment is kinda outta line.
if this were in the abyss of the political forum i'd say have at it. But its not

Bruce Springsteen is not the boss of me. However, if he collects slipjoints, he just climbed a notch in my book. And a picture with knives in it- not related to Hunter S. Thompson- in Rolling Stone? I guess anything is possible.

Neat news. Thanks.

As for politics, everyone likes knives! I know a lot of cooks and chefs who lean a bit to the left (understatement) who use knives with 7"-13" blades every day and want more.

hmmmm... I'm a liberal democrat and my skin is on the pink side, I'm also a musician and writer and I carry a super scary four inch blade every day. My collection includes everything from inch and a half slip joints to 17 inch fixed blades... I don't seem to be afraid of any of them.

But I digress, I'd be interested in seeing that picture. Any one who collects slipjoints gets a few points in my book. Of course, Springsteen's singing of late cancels those points out. Oh well.

I read an interview where somebody asked him why he carried a fixed blade custom on him to which he replied something along these lines: "what if I need something fu*#ing cut?"

The fact that Springsteen, Richards, and Hetfield all enjoy knives shows that it really is an impressively universal hobby. Whether we agree with their message, like their music, or if they represent the cutlery crowd in a positive manner all varies greatly from instance to instance.
