I just saw the commercial for the movie and thought it looked pretty cool. It is about a woman who buys a handgun to defend herself with (I think she even gets training) and ends up shooting a robber in a store. Instead of waiting for the police to show up, she leaves the scene before the police get there. After this, she shoots two would-be rapists on a subway. After this second shooting, she essentially becomes a vigilante, killing criminals wherever she finds them. Through all this, Law Enforcement suspects her but can't prove it. I would provide more details, but all I saw was the commercial. I think it will be a pretty cool thriller, but only if Hollywood doesn't use it as propaganda showing how "dangerous" it is to carry a handgun for self-defense, and how all CCW permit holders are "wannabe vigilantes". So, what do you guys think of it?

Looks more like the movie just makes it look like the common citizen shouldn't defend him/herself, and should let the police protect them.

I obviously haven't seen the movie yet, but it would seem that if she were really doing that, the forensics would make her fairly easy to find, esp. if she isn't an experienced criminal.

It kinda reminds me of that Kevin Bacon movie that's been out for a week or two. Odd they would release similarly-themed revenge movies so close together.

I thought it looked more like she was trying to avenge her boyfriends death.

There's no limit to the new ideas Hollywood will come up with. I hear that they're going to make a movie where some psycho killer wearing a mask goes around killing teenagers.

is this a new concept? its always a mask and its always some dumb teenagers on a road trip with their ipods. :foot:

I saw the previews and thought it looked like a good flick.
Then I saw an interview with lead actress, forget her name, and she said "No one should be allowed to hold that much power in their hands!" referring to a hand gun.
I don't think I'll be in any rush to see that movie!

The Jodi Foster character is the same person she played in an earlier movie but now older. The storyline is that the shooting of the bad guys was something she learned from watching her friend, Travis Bickel, in that earlier movie. ;)

Are you sure she doesn't mean the power to kill anybody she wants to?

Are you talkin to me?!

Death Wish was better. So was the Punisher (the newer one not the 80's one). Same with Dirt Harry(kinda a vigilante at some points) Basically, its been done before and better

You mean Taxi Driver with Robert Deniro as Travis Bickel?
Jody Foster was a teeenage prostitute in that movie.

That's the movie that almost got Ronald Reagon killed when Hinkley went nuts over Foster.

Whe I was in college, the joke was that Reagan wanted to have Hinkley sent to Iran after telling him the the Iatollah Khomeni had slept with Jodie Foster.

:D

Yup, and note the winky smiley and Thomason's penchant for dry, smart arse humor (I worship at the shrine of his taste in knives and said outlook :D ).

Anyhow, I think former teen prostitutes should be able to Conceal/Carry as long as they can pass a background check. Don't cha think ? ;)
