The "Brownie Pop" works....

I must be a retard. I sat here and read all of the success stories from when he was hooking everyone up with the e-mails. I also requested one and just didn't get it. I must need a short video or diagram or something :D It would be easier to see what I was doing wrong if an open discussion about it was alright, but I guess this is to be kept underwraps  :(

I got in on the email bonanza a few months ago, too -- and I too could not get the Brownie-pop to work with my AFCK linerlock. I'm not sure if I got a curtailed version email that wasn't clear enough, or if I was doing something wrong, or what. It just never worked according to my understanding of the instructions.

peacefuljeffrey:

Email me again. I have something that may help you with this.

As with all things, some find it easier than others. In the classes some get it right away and others take a bit longer. Very few can't get it down at all, but there have been some, of course.

As some have mentioned, some knives are harder than others, after 10+ years I can "pop" almost any knife. Practice makes it easier.

Bruz: You are welcome

Dragon_Man: That situation has been resolved and yes, the person who didn't think it was new saw that it was something he had not seen before, and stated after he saw it was fastest to point from the pocket. And yes, it's something I developed years ago. You apparently are under the wrong impression about how it works like another was until we met at the ROS this year and he saw it performed on knives that couldn't even be wrist flicked.

Hawaiian: You are welcome, glad to assist.

It's not the end all be all to opening a folder, it's just a very fast way to get the knife into play with gross motor skills and it keeps you from flicking the knife away from your body.

Ok, guys, last time we had one of these threads, we had a little problem. Please keep this to yourself!

thom - too late to adopt wade, i'm having my first kid in march!! i'm sure he'd be semi-well behaved though.

wade - i never make it past the cali border.

I just exchanged emails with Brownie and tried the method. I have to say, I am very impressed. I used my Brian Tighe "My Tighe". Once you refine the movement involved, it simply becomes a "shudder" and the blade "EXPLODES" open. Thanks Brownie.

Worked for me with a CRKT M16. Still working at it on my SERE 2000, but I've only tried a few times so far. Thanks again brownie.

Got it to work with my AFCK liner lock with ease. It was a bit tougher with my BM710, but I got it to go.

thanks brownie :)
i've been doing something like that for a while now when i was bored and decided to find ways to open my knife
nice to know great minds think alike heheh

The Brownie Pop works with my knives that have enough blade mass. Works with my Axis and Spydie Wegners, but I haven't gotten it to work with my Wegner, Jrs (I was fortunate enough to get all four Wegners before they were discontinued. Great knives!)

Exception is the Ayoob. A lockback, it's got the blade mass but the spring's way too tight!

I'll keep workin' on it.

Thanks, Brownie!

It must be just me, but I like to open knives with proper respect. A knife is a thing of extreme beauty but it can bite you in the ass if you mistreat it.

My friend likes to flick knives. He is my best friend and I trust him with my house, my car and my girlfriend, but I don't like it when he touches my knives.....especially since he is not an experienced knife handler and may end up spearin himself (or even worse me) in the leg or groin.

Even though the Brownie may be different than flicking, I just enjoy the smooth path of the knife when I open it the 'regular way'

As everyone has agreed not to put this out to the general public that has received this from me via PM's, I'd appreciate it if you would abide by my request not to put it out to the public.

Thanks

To those who have answered with your results here, you are welcome for the information and I appreciate your comments.

Respectfully

I emailed Brownie earlier today and got practicing right away.....it works great! I find my Benchmade 705 to work great, but I still need to work on the technique for my small sebenza. It's a fun, alternative way, to open your blades!

Thanks again!! :D

DUCky, I agree in as much as I don't care to abuse my knives. And do not often snap them open, maybe because most of mine are auto's ;) However, The Brownie Pop is a self defense move designed to allow you to pull the knife from your pocket and have it open, ready to use. I have also found that you can control the amount of snap needed to open a quality folder. Larry Chew's voodo bearing system is super easy.

Brownie my e-mail address is in my profile, could you please forward me your technique? And per your request it will be kept confidential.

Got the info last year but couldn't quite make it work. Now however, with the help of Brownies pics, I have it aced. Thanks Brownie.tom.:D
