There's one for sale right now at seems to be a good price on that national auction site that starts with an E.
Says it was made in 1987 Has patent pending and 184> USA on the blade. Price is at $226 right now.
Wouldn't use it? Man I would - you only go around once.

If I have time tomorrow I will post a picture of a 1 of a kind custom Buckmaster on the Buck Sunday Picture show.

The 184 is pretty useless for a bushcraft/hunting/camping/hiking etc knife. It was designed by Qual-A-Tec, a small R&D company for the Navy seals. The grappling hook was actually there for the seals to use to anchor equipment etc on piers or underwater. The sawtooth look was in because of Rambo so it was included in the original design. Look at the PPI on the saw they are useless for cutting. Great for smashing shells open. So unless you are going to play army like the guys below, they are a great collectors item from our military history. I actually purchased a Wilderness Explorer knife back then that was made in Japan that had 440c steel and a saw with 8 PPI in a plain tooth that cuts wood excellently and is easy to sharpen. Still in the pack for every trip.

The saw on the back was intended to assist in getting into airplane hulls and things like that.

Actually the designer Mickey Finn was quoted as saying that the saw was for looks and the in knife design since Rambo. The knife market was pretty slow and Mickey obtained the Rambo knives to study. The pilot knives of that area had back saws for cutting the thin metal on planes for emergency escapes etc. You can see how these teeth would be much better on sheet metal.

Thats not what bucks history says. Straight from buck not internet assumptions.

Here is a copy of the information sheet (1st page) that went out to buck dealers. Saw blade says plane hulls (as you mentioned) and ice. No it does not say because it was the "in" design at the time. Wonder why? I assume that is the Buck history you are talking about. Me I like "internet assumptions" and the great pumpkin Charlie Brown. I call "internet assumptions" borderline cilvil discussion. Now a contractor on my roof with a 184 that's a picture.

Lol right! Unlike some bossman actually gets out there and works! if i knew how to get the documents posted here i would show u what im talking about.

Sorry, but thats a crock of shit. Who the hell puts there knife in a vice and pulls on it and beats the blade on an anvil.... Enough said. Idiots :(

It's not there knife in a vice, it's their knife in a vice.
Their is ownership, there is a location. :)

Auto correct my bad..... Do u just set around and look for my comments on threads to nit pick.... Seriously ur like a nagging dog...

Who cares, that for sure... On my spelling or how I put it in writing... I'm just here to have a good time...
That's how I look at it and hang out with my friends...

Anyway, I guess the military puts their (is this right, their) knives through some hard test...

Let's all get along now... :)
