That is caused because of the scale on the flats slowing the blade down as it comes to the closed position. Bill said it was possible, but It should work itself out. If you want, you can send it back and we can exchange it.

If it should work itself out then that's good with me. There's no way I could part with this thing now...
 
Is anyone's tip exposed when the knife is closed? Mine sometimes is but sometimes is not. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Polishing the flats would cure that, but you would lose your texture to some extent.
 
That is such a great looking knife. They've done a fantastic job building a brand new antique knife.
