I forged this out yesterday and put the handle on lastnight. Today, I roughed out the handle shape. Still alot to do as I have plans of half wrapping the burlap micarta scales.... not to mention putting an edge on it. Forged from 3/16" O1 and tempered to approx 62RC. Full convex bevel.

The name comes from the Moro Barong shape to the blade.

Very nice work bro, I nearly skipped the post as I thought it read The Bushmora and I couldn't face seeing a Mora this early in the morning !!!!

Early in the morning!!! WTF..... what time do you wake up, Pit.... at the crack of noon?.... lol.

Thanks, bro.
Rick

I think Pit's on BC-time so not that late by his standards!

I really like the profile of that blade - and that handle looks like it has lots of room. Sort of reminds me of the BRK&T Cdn Camp knife - but I like the rugged looks of your better. Hope you keep that finish on the blade as is! Great work...

I am really liking that. Classic lines for the tropics. We might be talking prices here. Mac

I would like to buy a knife just like this and the other camp knife you posted the other day. Let me know if this is ever possible. Love your work! Could you post possible prices? Thanks

What a sweet looking user! Simple, practical, no-frills and looking just about the right size too! That blade is also a common design not just to our Southern Moro peoples. I could see similar blades used by rural folk and farmers in other parts of my country as well.

PayPal sent. Thanks for all the hard work on that. Love the way it turned out. Once I make the sheath for that it will be perfect.

:D:D:D I wish.

LOL - yeah, I'll take that. PM sent. :D

Those handles look comfortable. What's the material, micarta? Are you going to put a lanyard hole in them?

Nice. :)

The handle slabs are burlap micarta... I intend to wrap the forward part of the handle after a little more contouring. No lanyard hole on this one (its mine all mine and I despise lanyards)... but is easy enough to do on future pieces.

Thanks for the awsome comments...

I will have finished pics come monday afternoon...

hehehe BC time..... how true it is! ;)

Beautiful blade, I like your adaptation of the classic barong, well done!

I like it. A lot. The shape is so perfect for what it is. I just sometimes wonder about knfiemakers and what we are all thinking at once.

Very... strange. I've been working on this

which looks like it should piggyback on that puppy. No idea what to call it.

Tell me when one of those puppies is available!

... future pieces....Rick

"Future Pieces?"
A glimmer of hope!
I don't have a "big" knife but I know I should. I just haven't really seen what I think I want until just now. I an still not decided between a short machete with a thin blade or something "beefier." There's a lot to like about that one.

Nice work, Rick.

I all seriousness, I do have intentions of making more of these things and putting them on my website.... The 5160 pieces have been tested and put through the wringer.... but this one is made of O1 which I don't have alot of experience with... So it stays with me.

I tend to make my Bush Blades with a softer temper mid 50'sRC... I would rather see them bend or lose the edge a little quicker than snap, or chip out. Also makes for quick field sharpening, although a file won't bite, still.

The Bushmoro is 62RC which scares me a bit so I want to do some testing. I did the 6ft drop test that Jwade does (tip first into a concrete floor) and it took a bottle cap sized chip out of the floor with no damage to the tip whatsoever.... I like that!

I will have to watch for these. I am an O1 fan anyway and am interested in seeing how you feel about O1 at 62 rc after a while.

That's some good performance on the drop test. I bet it won't even wince at a knot.
