The great irony of Busse knives is that their greatest qualities: strength, durability, lifetime guarantee, should make them a once in a lifetime investment (or perhaps one purchase per size category). It is these same qualities, however that lead people to acquire the addiction that drives them to buy absurd numbers of these knives.
Lesser knives may fail break and chip and not be replaced under warranty, so it makes sense to go through a lot of more expendable knives in a lifetime, but the one what will last for generations is the one that drives us crave more.

I have sent a sherpa runner to deliver this deep thought to monk on a mountain top in Tibet for further contemplation. Please drink to this universal truth and meditate on it this weekend.

I overdid the INFI in the beginning but I am holding the line with two Busse knives.

Good post, btw.

I way overdid it when I jumped in. I'm considering some "catch and release" here in the near future.

I purchased my first B'Kin last September. Would a current total of fourteen be classified as "overdid?" Perhaps. But like your paradox observation.

And there are just so many more I desire - including other brands such as Becker; Reeve; Gerber; and now interested in Winklers. Will have one on the way soon. Cheers.

I look at it this way...
If my wife can have the same pair of shoes in 8 different colors, I can have 8 Mistresses in whatever combo I want. :D

I can stop any time I want...
No, really I can...
Maybe just one more... ;)

Seriously, I'm slowing down my acquisitions now too. I've got most of the Busse bases covered and will be very selective about new purchases.

One per month sounds about right, plus an initial larger buy, so 14 is good :D

:D^
Jerry needs to offer up some Busse folder designs.

Get Demko to let them use the Tri-Ad lock, and you'd actually have a worthy Busse folder. No other lock would be strong enough for their warranty, methinks. (Except maybe the AXIS, but fat chance that one will ever be loaned out.)

I'm poor so that helps. But if I had money I'd have a lot of busse's and kin and good guys like Grease who sold me my rucki are what's keeping me going and I can't forget dbarnes who knows I can't say no to him...lol

Thanks Grease. Started with two RMDs; then went with various Steel Hearts; Terror Monkey; SARSquatch; TGLB, etc. Now concentrating on older SH's, including two SHSH2's, and the original SH1. So many more choices to come. Cheers.

I believe the "Busse Paradox", much like the Bermuda Triangle, the Great Pyramids, Schodringer's Cat theory and the infinite state of the universe, will never fully be understood. I just say the magic is in the INFI dust and go with it.

Man, I definitely fall into this group. I acquired my first Busse just over a year ago. Within the first month, I bought another 15 or so. I have since thinned the Busse stash down to 6 models. I still have a few I would like to have if they ever pop up. I'm still mad that I let a beautiful Boss Jack go a while back. I also think I missed out on an order of mine from Swamp Rat while being out of the country without internet for a month. :(

Well said

I think I got my first Busse in February 2004 and by BLADE 2004 had around 50 or 60:D
That was all off The exchange. I think I received 6 or ten preorders at the show. I wish I had been able to hold onto more of them but reselling them paid my bills for most of 2005 after losing my business:grumpy:

Addiction takes many insidious forms. I purchased my first Busse, a custom shop NMSFNO, over a year ago. I have valiantly resisted the urge to splurge since then. A couple days ago I cracked and bought my second on this exchange. Soon, I will have my double cut ASH1. I will now resume my battle against Infi-itis. That is, until I yield to my overpowering to buy a NMFBM. Sigh.

Never really have been much of a collector of anything, except maybe guns. Something about INFI though, once you have one the yurge just continues to build and never seems to be satisfied.

I think most people overdo it t he first year. Once those credit cards are maxed out and your savings account is wiped out it gets easier to slow down. That's when you have to start selling off some of em and it starts a vicious cycle.

I have two. That's probably one more than I need. Going to try both this deer season and see which one I prefer for field dressing. Will sell the other. No addiction here.
