  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

The Busse Paradox

No problems here, all my purchases are different sizes:D and I can still go bigger, smaller and squeeze some in between. PHEW!

What I think is funny about the absurd toughness of Busse knives and kin, is that it seems to not be tested by most.

I hardly ever see Busse knives with any use on them. Most I see pictures of look brand new!

I certainly overdid it when I first got into them. I had the entire e handle lineup. Had all the zero tolerance models. Had a straight handle steel heart.

Now all I have is my basic 9, a SYKCO 311, and a Ratmandu. That's it. I'd love to own more, and probably will, but family responsibilities are taking precedence right now.

I have users and I have "Safers." Prefer the users, but have learned enough over the past 10 months to know which one's to keep in pristine condition. Excessive collecting? I could have easily purchased twice what I did in those 10 months. But one has to keep a "reasonable perspective - wot?"

I use all my Busse/swamprat knives besides the nmsfno (just got it). It is actually pretty hard to make these knives show signs of use, and I am not going to go out of my way to hack a tree down just to do this. Over my lifetime these knives will show their use with a good story for each not in vain battle scar :D

I use mine too, but I think we are the exception and not the norm.

Most I see are safe queens that will never be used for their intended purpose. Nothing wrong with that. People can do what they want with their own knives. It was just an observation.

Hit a new high yesterday. Two knives purchased online (BF & Eb), about three hours apart. Both too good to pass up - of course!

I have a few that collect dust. They also have user sibling's of the same model.

I do the same thing man! But it's funny - I get so attached to the ones I use, and I start to trust em so much that I sell off my "backups"! I just get to where I eventually feel like I don't need em.

Yeah, but they look so pretty sitting there waiting to be used. It's a passive aggressive abuse thing.lol

They do man, they do. I used to love laying all of mine out and just looking at em. Truly awesome and beautifully brutal. That's Busse and kin in a nutshell.

My bussekin collection has been a bit tidal in it's time. A few at the start then lots then a clear out then lots and now it's fairly stable at 6. I can see one more of them going but it's hard to part with.

Looks like most of us have had a similar experience with our knives except for the hogs who just surrender to the urge and keep on collecting. All part of the fun though.

One per month sounds about right, plus an initial larger buy, so 14 is good :D
Get Demko to let them use the Tri-Ad lock, and you'd actually have a worthy Busse folder. No other lock would be strong enough for their warranty, methinks. (Except maybe the AXIS, but fat chance that one will ever be loaned out.)

+1
I LOVE Busse's and have quite a few. I would get a Busse folder in a heartbeat.
Demko Custom is my substitute for now.
Does not it look somewhat similar to the qualities of Busse's we all appreciate?

This (below) was posted on another Internet forum:
If I knew who the person was and where he lived I would loan him a Busse to take into the woods and use HARD for a weekend and (for sure) he would walk out of the woods singing an entirely different tune. Some people are honestly jealous and envious of Busse knife owners and their recourse is to kinda lash out and spout off stupid and totally baseless opinions.

Busse's are mostly a status symbol knife. The purchase price cover's membership into the social circle they have developed.

I bought my very first Busse, a satin Team Gemini with a blue/black handle a month ago and my Busse addiction was born. Here's how I look at it: I don't smoke (okay, a cigar every six months or so) or drink (much) or do drugs or blow money on shoes and clothes and silly things like that (although my Harley Sportster eats up more customizing money than it should), so if I want to blow money on some well made, tough and beautiful knives that will more than likely outlive me, then dammit, I will!
