Recommendation? The Case Bowie Knife?

The homade looking one is almost 100% from the Philippines. They made a ton of knives and machetes for US servicemenduring and after the war. Hope this helps. That bowie looks minty!
Thanks ! That's what I figured... wasn't positive about the Phillippines.
So probably not that rare or valuable ?

Yeah, the Case Bowie is pretty minty... the decades of having the tar on it probably helped keep that way !

No, I've seen them sell for anywhere from $25-$150 depending on how ornate they are. The Case on the other hand is in the $400-$600 range.

I really like my Case Bowie, I bought it brand new back in the early 70's and it became a regular on my belt when camping (Hey I was young back then). It held a edge well enough and looked cool, has Davy Crockett on the blade and a brass strip on the spine. The silly brass and crap (they called it leather) sheath didn't last long. It can get quite sharp and stay that way.
Maybe its because I have had it forever, I really like the way it feels in my hand and handles. The black plastic handle is now grey-ish and I can't seem to get it back to black. As I got older, I retired it for a "baby" Bowie and the Case Bowie tends to ride in the back of the truck when camping now, not on my hip anymore. As to style/shape/etc. I can't speak, it looks like a Bowie to me and that is all that matters, I even think but can't remember that far back that it might have been my very first fixed blade knife, so its a Bowie to me.
