The Challenge

I too like the Sauk Trail, but it's another one that did not take off as I expected. On the other hand the Compact Tool did fairly good.

I think the Sauk Trail looks like it would straddle the lines of the camp utility/bushcrafter/woods bumming/hiking needs perfectly.

I don't get it either...

The Kephart, of course.

I don't think anyone else makes one that pays homage to the original knife better, and the one I have is extremely useful.

best

Still gotta go with the Hiker, best woodsbumming blade ever:thumbup:
The Hiker, heck yeah, great knife!

Then again the Tool and Compact Tool ain't bad knives either.;)

I would also submit the Toby's knife in all it's variations.

Hikers a good one :)

and last thought but not least, I've always liked the Potawatomi , it's what really caught my eye when i was first looking

and that was looking over only half a "almost..." thread, got to find a way of streamlining these baby's into 1 choice :D

Good luck with picking ONE John :)- They are all worthy.

I too really like the Potawatomi and this is the 1st I see of the BullDog but that one looks just perfect too.

Why not just pick the one that sells best? which one is that? Seems like it is the Toby's Knife? is that true?

I think a signiture knife sounds great. My vote would be for either the Hiker or the Sauk Trail. Both models look like they can handle a variety of tasks and could be up/down sized to create multiple iterations.

Also, what about the possibility of doing an Annual Special Addition? A limited number of a particular model, all with a set feature list, offered at a special price.

Toby's Knife was the best seller until the Element Series came out.

roger that. but, i guess my point is still the same. i would think your signature knife would be the one that is most popular with your customers. dunno.

which way are you leaning? do you have one in mind?

I really have nothing special in mind. There have been a lot of good suggestions made, but quite a few of those have been "one hit wonders", I made one either for a customer or on a whim, but they never caught on. The only reason I was doing this was because so many thought I needed a signature knife. It's looking like it's not such a good idea.

yeah, i don't know about whether or not it's necessary to have a "signature knife". but, it seems like the question really is, "What do you want to be known for?" obviously, only you can answer that.

me personally, i like the "rootsy" stuff. i like the Kephart*. I like the Nessmuk. I like the Canadian Belt Knife. And, I like the roach belly patterns that you've done (the VT Hunter was a variation of that). i think you could easily add the Toby's and the EWOK pattern to that type of lineup (and the Viktim, for that matter).

of the new models that you've done, the one that i recall off the top of my head that would be my favorite is the Camp & Trail.

*I still regret selling the first knife you made me....that EDC style Kephart. twas a heckuva knife.

I'll also speak up for the Kephart - John made the best one out there. And don't forget the EWOK. . .or the Viktim. . .or

The Kephart was a good one, but I am unable to offer it. The EWOK might be a good choice, and I never even thought of the ViKtim. Hmmm.....

I'd say the "ViKtim" would be an excellent choice, a great design that's somehow both classic-looking yet with modern efficiency, that's not identified with any previous model or maker, that's not too large or too small, and tough enough to take on anything. . . ,

AND it has your trademark K right there in its name!

That looks like a pretty strong looking blade that can handle quite a few tasks...is this the current front runner?

I don't know if I would call it my signature knife, but I did bring it back to see if there is interest in it.
