Season change is a fascinating thing...It always amazes me how mere time changes my property. My pond is my quiet place, its where I go to get sane. Think about life and no matter how stressed I am this place always makes me feel at peace. I do not think I could ever leave or sell this property I love it so much...anyway I thought for fun ( you would have thought that I would have done this earlier since I have lived on this water for 13 years) that I would photograph the pond every two weeks or so to see the changes and the beauty. I thought I would share..

January 8 2009, bitter cold..four inches of lake effect powder last night..note the deer tracks on the pond...Animals move freely across the pond now. I am not so brave as the pond is fed by underground artesian wells.

Thanks sharing these cool images, I enjoy the change in seasons as well. There is always something to look forward to in each season.

My Landscape has turned to White here.

sure is a pretty piece of land, Ren!! Thanks for the pictures - the rest of us can all dream.

A beaut Pond Ren,

I look forward to seeing the updated shots as the seasons keep changing.
Does it get any colder? With that ice forming, it’s looking a bit nippy around the gills.

As another pond appreciator, who also parts with some quality time on the waters edge, thought I would throw in my little pond, in the South West of WA.

Thanks for sharing, even if it did take you 13 years.

Nice pics, it would be cool to see them as a running series.

You might think about putting in a couple sturgeon in there. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of visiting a really old sturgeon every summer somewhere outside Yosemite when we would drive to CA. I completely forget where he lived, but I remember him being guesstimated at 175 yrs. last time I saw him.

If there are enough little critters for him (or her) to eat, and the pond never dries out, then your great great great grandchildren will get to visit with the same sturgeon you put there.

That does it, Ren. I'm bringing my arse up to your place next year, for some bass fishing.

Where's your "ice" pic? :p

Nice place Ren. I lived east of Flint in Lapeer county, on the Holloway Res. before I had to leave as an economic refugee...along with around 25% or more of my graduating class. Kind of like the waves of people leaving Ireland every generation, just not enough work.

I still miss Michigan though I've been gone over 20 years. I still recall going over the big mac for the first time. The lakes, both great and small. What a beautiful state. Joe

Beautiful.

Where is Detroit? :D.

The water is not cold enough for Sturgeon or deep enough for them either. The deepest part of my pond is about 25 feet. I do however have plenty of pan fish and large bass in my pond and the pond just to the east of my pond. Often my kids and I will catch bigger bass from the other pond and transplant them into ours..

Awesome 'seeing' the seasonal changes take effect.

Thank you for sharing your special place.

Beaut pics Ren, very cooling -
it's been hanging around the 40 degrees C (100 + F) for the last couple of weeks in my part of the world.

Nice to see some ice.
