So im not sure if this has been discussed here before, But out of fun and curiosity, and for those on a budget that might find this later, What are the "best bang for your buck" knives on the net for under a $50 bill, the closer to 20 the better. I know we have oodles of choices for super steels, custom knives, and high end production, but I want to hear about the best knife for the blue collar working man. The hunter whos on a budget because they spend their money on the tools used to provide food. I just wanted this to be a reminder that you dont need to spend large amounts of cash to have something that will last you a life time.

I ask to provide make, model, average price, and country of origin. Bonus points for a knife of non chinese origin. After all, Chinese knives are everywhere and in every price range.

Compiled List:

*Buck - Bantam - $25 - USA
*Otter - Mercator - $40 - Germany
*Ka-Bar - Dozier - $25 - Taiwan
*Victorinox - Classic SD - $20 - Switzerland
*Opinel - #8 - $18 - Italy
*Ganzo - FH series knives - $25 - China
*CaseXX - Sodbuster (black synthetic)- $40/45 - USA
*Buck - 110 Slim Select- $40- USA
*Cold Steel- Pendleton Lite- $20- Taiwan

Bonus: I have no idea who the company is that makes them, But i keep hearing good stuff about the Lightning OTF for a whopping $30, Made in Taiwan.

Off the top of my head:

Buck - Bantam - 25 - USA
Otter - Mercator - 40 - Germany
Ka-Bar - Dozier - 25 - USA
Victorinox - Classic SD - 20 - Switzerland

I believe the Dozier is actually made in Taiwan. Great knives, I’ve gifted several.

CaseXX - Sodbuster (black synthetic)- 40/45 - USA
And I second the comment above, Opinels are great knives for the money.

Buck bantams are made in the usa, not Taiwan

I'm really like the Kizer Begleighter family of knives. You can usually find a nice model for $35-$45 someplace. In fact, Kizer knives are a real bargain when they go to the 50-60% off list range

I've seen for ~$40-50 : Cold Steel 4 Max Scout , AD 10 and 15 Lite , SR1 Lite .

These are value versions with AUS10 blades and Grivory handles , but still very sturdy and hard use folders .

I want to hear about the best knife for the blue collar working man.
I can't imagine why a ''blue collar' could only afford a knife in the $20 to $50 range.
Well; this is what I have and recommend in this price range:
-Bahco 2446 - about 10€ (12c27 steel; a very good knife)
-Mora Companion - about 16€ (12c27 steel)
-PF719 - about $29 (12c27 steel)
-PF838 - about $30 (D2 steel)
-PF949 - about $54 (K110 steel)
-Opinels from #7 to #10 (from 12€ to 18€)

Bonus points for a knife of non chinese origin.
Does this 'affordable knife search' only goes for the USA or also includes Europe and other countries?
I'm just asking because here in Europe we are not so sensitive about chinese knives.
