The Chinese cleaver from hell WIP. Finished.

Pictures don't seem to work for me, just get exclamation points. I would love to see more of your work though.

Thats Bad Ass! Great Job:thumbup:

That site made my antivirus software go berserk........ first time in a long time it's done that..... thanks Salem... jerk.

Ha! Seriously though... I won't be going back there anytime soon.

Rick

Awesome Salem. It was a WIP like a thriller novel. Couldn't stop until I read all 8 pages. It turned out wonderfully. I bet your customer is happy. Be sure to raise your price on future cleaners!!

I hope I wasn't the one who banned WIP threads on that forum... :(

I really like the final hamon though.

Yeah, I don't know why those pics are gone, or how to edit them back in. But, since I destroy the blade in those pics, later in the thread you get to see it forged from scratch all over again. Page #2-on is all good.

Salem That Cleaver is BAD ASS! I hate that you had to do it over 3x. man I think I woulda rage quit (ok maybe not but It woulda crossed my mind!) As far as antivirus... I run linux Mint lol I dont need no stinking antivirus lol!

Lord have mercy, you've clearly got orders of magnitude more patience than I do.

Three times to get it made, and you went all the way through with it. Good work, man.

It is lame indeed.....too bad a few knife makers ruined it for everyone......ryan

Yeah. I don't really care who it was, I just wonder if I had anything to do with it... I don't think I was "passively marketing" myself, beyond kind if displaying my work.

Patience. Yeah, I lost it a few times working on the cleaver, but it was a custom order and the money kept me motivated- the fact that I'd messed up three of them kind of meant it would be a complete and colossal waste of my time if I didn't finish one. If it was just a side project, I might have abandoned it for much longer than I did. A couple of the blanks can be made into smaller things. Not the one that tore itself apart in the quench, though!

I was really glad though, that I hadn't taken a deposit on it- and that my customer was really understanding about it. That's what's nice about not taking deposits unless really necessary.

Anyway, thanks for the comments guys, MSCantrell, I've still got your KITH knife from the other year and cut things with it. The wife left it out on an alfalfa bale for like a week in the weather after cutting the twine with it, unbeknownst to me. ARRRR.

Well fine, Rick. You just keep on prancing around in your little Superman costume, crying about your antivirus software... I didn't want you to look at my knife anyway. (Sob.) :p

Great job on the cleaver, the contrast between the polished edge, the hamon and the area above it is great. I really like the scales and bolsters as well.

Mark of strong character, if you ask me :)

Very Interesting to see the results of the different quench oils, after the commotion here with the "hype" thread. Love the final hamon!

Great Salem, now I have one more knife on my to do list.;)
Nicely done!

PS: Rick, just switch to Ubuntu (Linux) and put all this nonsense about viruses behind. ;)

My own hand off, if I ever think about building one again...

I see that KKF has started a new sub-forum just for WIP's, that works for me. Now I can go edit the broken pics on page one.

Thanks for checking it out, guys.

The link is going to invalid forum something now. They must be ticked! ( :
