The classic Buck 124

Is it the plastic or leather sheath? Many of those plastic ones dry, crack and brake.
But your models look nice. Thanks for showing them for us. DM

Leather, pistol style sheath. I've noticed they don't fit modern 124 sheaths and wondered about blade size differences.

Thus far it looks like my thought in post #17 are holding true. Does anyone have more to add?

JB, some good lighting on that photo . I have one with that handle material. I think the catalog calls it birch. Yours is a 91 and mine has the /. Both are 425 steel. DM

When I had my tape measure certified, the metrologist in the lab told me it was accurate as long as I ignored the movement of the stop hook. As it's movement introduces error. And go only by the graduations on the steel tape. DM

Well I never had a tape measure certified.
What are you doing that would require that?

But your correct that anything that moves introduced mechanical error.
Thanks!:)

As an inspector with the dept. of Agriculture in the field we measure and certify all kinds of items sold by a statement of measurement. From cords of wood to plastic sheeting, we checked the size statement. I have 2 tapes with certificates, a 50' and a 12'. Thus, if a stop sale was issued our measurements would stand scrutiny. DM

you guys are doing serious tape measuring. I just grabbed nearest tape measure and figured close enough.....dont need to measure twice and cut once on this one.:)
