The Colony? TV

I dont mind TV ,I like a mushy mind after dealing with people all over the world is mind boggling to say the least ,one thing they all understand is the middle finger and the words F*** **u, no matter the language barrier whether spanish, portuguese chinese, when I do my show & Tell to 'em they understand that and then we laugh and get back to business. So I like TV it is the new wave Bong, everybody takes a hit and hooked on their channel of choice.....New HD channels are the bomb... sitting in my Leather recliner looking at the purdy colors on NAT GEO or Discover channel.... :D Whoa !

Tv is a PLAGUE. On top of that there are magazines, merch, and a host of other trinkets to legitimize making tv a main part of your identity. But aside from that it is a useful device. There are many valuable, educational, and entertaining programs on history and nature (maybe not many but some). The breakthrough of the ufc into the mainstream has pleased me. The most important thing is to see it for what it is, a sales pitch. Selling junk, selling opinions, selling needs, and creating insecurities and shortcomings that they sell the magic pill for.

As for the colony of course its staged. Cannibalism and bloodbaths could not go unpunished and broadcast at this point in society. But it will be interesting to me. Interested to see if it will be a vehicle for fear mongering or empowerment. I'm also interested in what companies advertise during a show like this.

I have a bunch of hobbies, I do woodworking, fishing, ride Atvs , spend tons of time exploring the woods and trails around south Texas, I spend as much time outdoors as possible.....unless its football season, I do spend a little time parked in front of my big screen watching those games I deem worthy.:D

Oh, and I like the discovery and science channel

SNIP. . .

It please me too. It finally makes grapplers feel relevant.:D

When I lived in Hawaii in the late 80s I had an acquaintance who was big into Ju-Jitsu, (no one had yet heard of BJJ outside of Brazil), and he was a bad ass. One lazy afternoon drinking beers at a friend's place he wanted to show me and everyone this new hold he was working on mastering. So I let him get me on the ground and he was doing some kind of arm bar that was getting my right shoulder into a very uncomfortable position, which would lead to a submission into today's lingo.

He was getting full of himself, going, "How would you get out of this, huh?"

"I think like this." I chuffed out.

"What's that?!?" he yelped in pain and immediately released my arm to tend to himself.

"That's the frame of a Buck 110 I would have just opened and plunged into your dick. Welcome to Kali."

He didn't bother to ever show me anything again.:D Even back in the day, a Buck 110 with a one armed bandit was a force to be reckoned with.;)

That is funny.

Actually, some of us had heard of The Gracie Family of Brazil a little while before that. ;)

But, most people had not.

He was getting full of himself, going, "How would you get out of this, huh?"

Sing my song.

Even back in the day, a Buck 110 with a one armed bandit was a force to be reckoned with.;)

Sing another verse. :)

Amen! I would rather spend time in my garden than watching any damn TV show. TV makes you dumb. Working a good garden is good for you both mentally and physically, in more ways that I can even begin to write about. TV is probably the worst damn disease to hit our culture. It's amazing to me how many people can tell you all about some silly-ass TV show, name the characters, name the people who played those characters and tell you what happened on every episode, then they wonder why they can't get anything done or get ahead with projects or be more self-sufficient. For the most part, TV makes your mind lazy.

Ah common, you know as well as we do, your just waiting for Hollywood to give you the chance for your reality show!

Jeff Randall takes 10 celebrities into the Amazon jungle......and leaves them.

:D

Well, I threatened to hit a guy once with a stick but my momma grabbed me before he could whip my ass.

I'll be watching.

I watch almost no TV at this point. Monsterquest and Terminator, The Sarah Connor chronicles is about it.

I melt my brain wit da 'puter nowadays.

OK, just finished the first episode.

So far I kinda like it, since the "attackers" are not allowed to hurt anyone, and at some level they all know that, I think they wold have been better off to just leave all that crap out and just have a show about them scavenging about for supplies and problem solving for survival.

I'm in for at least the next episode.

well...........we suck........no one set it up to record. it's discovery channel though...they'll surely replay it a million times. yup mr says at midnight!

and hush i haven't seen BB for tonight yet either!

Yea, it was a nice night around here.:D

I watched 10,000bc.

Interesting take on the whole "history" thing.

Cavemen and african tribesmen team up to fight the egyptians.

Oh, and the tribesmen teach the cavemen how to farm.

Man did I have it all wrong.

I missed the first episode, sucks having friends to socialize with sometimes... (yes that was sarcasm)

For those of you that watched it how was it? Too staged, or was it somewhat decent?

The handyman is trying way too hard. You're in LA with a camera crew filming a show, are you really going to smack another volunteer with a pipe for the sake of 'security'? His high drama act is already old.

Actually, they're all trying way too hard, and I believe the show is going to suffer greatly for it. I wonder how long they're going to drag out the marauders things. "Oh no, every night, people come to hurt us and steal our supplies. Except, all they've done the entire first week is bang on our doors for a couple minutes and then leave."

Watched the first 15 minutes and turned it off. Way too staged. I had high hopes from the commercials.
