There was a question here about a week ago concerning the color and look of kingwood after you have worked it. Since kingwood has been one of my favorites for some time I though I would post this pic of the chefs knife that I am sending to "The Collectors Show" in California in a week and a half. I will not be able to make it there, but the knife will. The handle is a nice example of kingwood, not the best piece I have used, but a pretty nice one:

Kingwood comes in several types.Para kingwood (camatillio),purple kingwood, voilet kingwood, and several brown shades. Each piece is unique, and mellows to something different after a while.I like it.

Nice looking knife! I get most my wood at Gilmer. They'll have cocobolo and kingwood mixed together in one of there drums. Sometimes the only way I can tell the difference once I'm working it is by the smell.

Kevin that is absolutely beautiful. Stuff like that is major inspiration for me. I really need to learn more about silver, assuming that's what you used for the fittings around the handle. Kingwood is pretty, I've never used any but I think I'll start keeping my eyes peeled. Thanks for sharing,

I think that might have been me asking about kingwood. I've finished the knife I used it on, and I think kingwood might become one of my favorites too :). Thanks for the pictures, thats a really nice looking knife!
