Actually, I'm an American genius, but I understand his confusion. :)

This is one of those tests structured to allow most people to do well. A test to separate candidates for a position would have had to be more challenging. The idea here was to investigate the basic proficiency expected of any educated person reasonably familiar with the language.

An English - and American Genius

Didn't save it. Have no idea what I missed. I always catch myself making silly mistakes anyway; even after proofing.

I used to use Fowler's, Follett's, Strunk and White, Manual of Style, and Words Into Type extensively. I still use Fowler's. It sits at my elbow along with my spell checker: The Oxford American Dictionary. For really big words (sesquipedalian :D ) Webster's Third New International Dictionary or my OED.

The others stay on the shelves gathering dust - like my brane.
