I'm a new member from China, and want to buy my first tactical folder throught my freind is U.S. I have very deep impression with the knife of EDI with its design, quality, performance and compared price. But recent EDI almost disppeared. Their website is under construction; Will Fennel is to Camilus; Their products disappeared on many website.
Anyone who can tell me whats wrong with them?

Welcome to the forums.

EDI had severe quality control problems, among other things. They looked like they had a great product but somehow didn't come through. Unless you want one for collection purposes... you might want to consider other options:

In this price range - you can do a lot better then that:

A few options are:

Benchmade Emerson CQC 7.

Spyderco (a number of models - see their new web site at www.spydeco.com)

For very deep concealment CRKT Kasper folder is best, (at around 45$!)

Many other options exist - just stay tuned and read on...

My guess is that EDI is soon to be history. It has been eons since I've seen an ad of theirs in one of the magazines or seen them get press for that matter. Still, their biggest mistake was letting Will go. Oh well...EDI's loss is Camillus' big gain...

I agree that EDI's biggest loss was Mr. Fennell. He was a really good guy and almost took care of all the defective products and returns himself. It all went downhill from then. Customer service is great, I asked for a couple extra screws, they sent me several little baggies full of torx screws. I was very impressed to say the least. And they wrote me a letter. This was for an EDI knife I sold cheap to my brother. It has some good features, such as the deep carry clip, but screws loosen real easy on the knife and there is often blade play and a loose linerlock.

If I could inspect it in person for a good period of time, I would consider getting another EDI, but right now, for the price there are a lot of other knives that I'd rather get (despite EDI's very nice customer service department).

Try getting a Microtech SOCOM Elite (or LCC) or some Benchmade stuff.

their web site reconstruction has been in progress for almost a year now, which says it all.
