The Convex Grind/Edge Myth

I don't dispute anything that I've read above, but I lose interest...
and everything goes blooey.......(even though it's relevant...)
I just got my first convex-edged knife: a Fallkniven TK2 in SG2...and it will be fun to check it out.
p.s. Keeping it sharp is also important. I suspect that the WSKO, or a loaded strop (or fine sandpaper on a mouse-pad) will do the trick.

It's a 2014 thread, as a heads-up. Also, overall it's really not strictly necessary to maintain the convexity during honing since its chief advantage is--for its edge angle--being thinner behind the edge itself. During field honing sessions you can just roll the blade on a stone until the edge just makes contact and then hone at that angle without detriment, then worry about restoring a smoothed convex later after several honings -- and then, only if your honing strokes had been consistently flat enough to no longer be convex. For most folks, try as you might, you're going to produce a bit of a convex when freehand honing anyhow.
