The Cutlery Great Pioneers-Bob Egnath

I've had a link to Bob's old site for some time at my website, as there is so much great info there. His "Burr King tips" page is great. There were pics of several of his scrimmed works and hamon tantos in Jim Hrisoulas' first book, where I first learned of him. Hell of an artist, wish I'd had the chance to meet him.

I like where you're going with this Steven.
Looking forward to the next installment.

Nice STeven! My collecting goes back a ways... into the very early 80's. I look forward to further posts from you in this vein.

I too lived near the Glendale shop in the 80s when it was still House of Muzzle Loading. It was almost too good to be real. Bob would pile as many guys in his van as possible and haul everyone to the So.Cal. knifemakers meetings. I got to meet several great knifemakers that way. I still have 3 unfinished tanto blades along with a Nesmuk and Loveless drop hunter II. I will finish one of the tantos but the rest are forever to remain.
It would just blow your mind watching how fast Bob could grind out those blades. Thus his nickname.

Bob was good buddies with Glenn Hornby, so we would always go by the shop when I was in Glendale......
I have a few of his scrim pieces, they are GREAT........He always said he couldnt make any money scrimming and thats why he made knife blanks.
Too much time for too little money.......but wow........What ART!!!!
Miss the guy, he was a true character!!!!

The one quote I remember the best: "Treat belts like they were free............"
