The Cutting Edge – Which makers have you recently discovered that excite?

I enjoy everything about knives. Except visiting here in the Custom and Handmade forum, where truly petty ass bullshit like what I've seen presented here in this resurrected thread passes for knowledge instead of the dumbass, foolish personal editorials that are again presented, so many years later, with nothing but negative substance that just shouts me, me, me.

I hoped I might begin to enjoy it again, but entering and reading this thread - it's just like, or worse, than many years past. This thread is one more example of true knowledge and decent discussion being usurped by destructive personality.

Say what you want about my comments, I won't ever be around to read them.

Damn right, place has more clattering buttocks than a Will Morrison hamon! :D

It's OK Bob. Really it is. None of this stuff matters anyway. :D

I'm a half full kinda guy, so am greatly enjoying all you asses showing off your incorrect work, but I get your point, Bob. Don't be a stranger- this stuff is, as you say, petty and there's so much other great stuff here to spend time on instead of focusing on the asshat tendencies of one of our distinguished members :)

now, please continue- you low intellect, artistically challenged idiots, let's see your shabby attempts at making knives. Make some lemonade outta this lemon:D:thumbup:

Nothing has more buttocks than a Morrison hamon. Nothing.

Hey, that's me!

Here's a hamon Rorschach test. What do you see?

And a better look at the hamon on the right knife in the above image.

nothing but ass there, Will. Lousy with ass

OK now, this thread is coming around nicely and we're starting to see some really cool ASS hamons.:D

I give up... or not. Actually, I am just redirecting.
So... Kyle Hanson, very much impressed by his clean work and historical base.
My man Matt Gregory. He doesn't make a lot, but they are too cool.
John Doyle.

These are the relatively new knife makers that have gotten me excited. Gary Mulkey has been doing it for awhile, but I love his historical bowies.

Karl Anderson, he isn't new, but he has gotten so very good with making and presenting pattern welded steel within a clean and functional knife.

I am not into the tactical stuff, despite that being the current wave. I don't really like bowies and fighters with lots of broken curves or multiple faces, or a concave shape to the belly of the blade, or what looks like a kissaki (although it doesn't look like ass, because a properly shaped and presented ass is the most beautiful thing in all the world).

I haven't noticed, but has anyone mentioned Marc Aldrich? I have been extremely impressed with his attention to detail and craftsmanship. However, I think he only makes 2 or 3 knives a year :p

Not that I can hold a candle to any of the above mentioned names but I too love some ass.

In terms of makers that have caught my eye Julian Antunes has to be be top of the list, I believe he is still under 20 years old and he is doing work that is closing in on Kyle Royer territory for cleanness.

I agree, I first thought he was a very experienced old-timer when I saw his knives, and then I found out he's actually younger than me. Julian is just simply remarkable.

Do forgive me if ANY knifemaker thinks my earlier comments were referring to them.

y'know, I love big butts and I cannot lie so keep shakin that ass

just checked out that Julian fellow on the Google machine, and colour me impressed. Looks like he's a youtuber as well, looking forward to checkin out his scene

Bob: Now, consider yourself forgiven - no offense taken here. :) I declared absence for awhile because of the same "negative personality" but came back. I'm glad I did and frankly, the pettiness you encountered here is not the norm. Now, you keep coming back - you'll be glad you did in the long run. As a tickler, I want to show you a knife I just finished today with a steingASS hamon, done without clay and an interrupted quench in Parks 50 :D

You know, I should have mentioned Steingass. That hunter you posted above is just about perfect for its intended use, and it looks great. No extra facets or weird angles, just a knife meant for a certain range of use, and outstanding fit and finish.

Hamon or not... it is outstanding. Honestly, it is like you took the ideal hunter from inside my head and made it appear in steel and wood (isn't it great when we manage to do that?). Only, I would have used birdseye rivets instead of Corby's. But, that is me. I don't dislike Corby's, I just love well done rivets and pins. (sort of like boobs versus ass... I sure don't dislike boobs, I just love a good ass...).

rock on...

"SteingASS..." LOL!
