Dave Beck, the original maker of the Tracker (as seen in the upcoming movie "The Hunted"), is making them again.

They will be made from 01 tool steel and will be differentially tempered. The blades will also feature a tapered tang, for improved balance and olive/black linen micarta handles.

Dave expects to have the first knives finished in two weeks and the first production run finished by the end of March.

He does not have a web site yet but can be reached by phone at (610)670-5319.

He should have pics and prices available in about two weeks. As far as how many will be made, that is undetermined at this time. (I, myself, can't wait to get my hands on one.)

Thank you to all who have shown an interest! He is working on a website and will be getting a knifemakers membership for this forum. (He has a few other knives he wants to post for sale.)He has been working diligently on the new batch of Trackers and should have some pics available next week! The website should be up and running by that time also.

I got to take a look at some of the semi finished Trackers today. They had all the bevels ground in and Dave was going to cut the saw teeth in later in the day.

He has tapered the tang. This should make the overall package a little lighter while moving the balance point forward a bit for increased chopping efficiency.

The carving portion has been changed from a hollow ground to a flat ground profile. I think this will make for a much more durable edge and should be a great improvement.

The handle has received some subtle changes that should improve the overall feel of the knife.

With all of these improvements plus the differential temper I think these new Trackers are going to be awesome. I am truely excited to get mine!

Alphaman IV,
I noticed in the other thread comparing the Beck to the Tops tracker that the price was $375 finished and shipped. Don't want to spread rumors though, so if someone could confirm that it would be appreciated.

I had hoped to have some pics by tomorrow. Unfortunately there was a problem with the shipment of handle materials that will delay the first sets completion. Now Dave is figuring to have some completed next week. Frustrating!

The web site is coming along though and Dave is working away on the rest of the Trackers. Orders should still be able to be filled starting at the end of the month.

I don't know what the price will be. Dave hasn't said yet. I wouldn't expect them to be less than $400.

Good to Go,
Dave is a awesome maker. Is he still going to make them in different sizes? Is he going to make to companion blade also to the TRACKER? I will Not miss out this time. I still have his catalog from 13yrs ago. You have to see his knife named WOLVERINE!

Dave if you read this, WELCOME BACK! The Knife community will have somebody I consider an awesome maker.

Semper Fi,
