The Decision Has Been Made: The BK-16 - My First Real Knife

Haha, yeah, my brother-in-law keeps telling me that once I get one, they're going to multiply like rabbits. He has nearly the entire like of Becker knives to prove it. We shall see if that happens to me.

And I will definitely check out those sheath makers. I've found a pretty sweet thread on modding the original sheath that comes with it, so I'll give that a try first.

BK-9 is only around $80 on Amazon?? That seems quite affordable, coming from the folder side of the knife world..

I love my azwelke kydex sheaths. Save yourself some money and make the leather dangler portion yourself. The kydex will only be 30 or so. But the stock sheath is very dependable and does the job. I just don't find it pretty enough.

Welcome O'calm one!!!......

Thank you for buying your Sixteen...... I have often wondered if I had purchased a Sixteen at age fourteen instead of the Puma Hunters Friend that I loved and still do love and that I carried for damn close to a half century if, I would have bothered to start modding knives (my gateway ).......... I hope it will serve you well and work it's buns off for you........

Thanks for dropping by and you are always welcome.....

Ethan

PS...The Ten really does pair up with the Sixteen well......... Do not forget a Victorinox Swiss Army Rucksack.....Oh and an Eleven.....LOL..... E

Whoa...the Boss himself, replied. I am humbled and honored. :D

Thank YOU for creating such a beautiful piece of functional art! I have no doubts this knife will serve me well and do nothing but work hard for me. This knife is something I will cherish throughout my life and eventually pass it down to one of my future children.

Thank you for the welcome and I am definitely here to stay. And yep, I've already been eye-ing the 10... And so it begins...

It took me almost 3 years to get one. I am a pretty minimalistic type of guy. I do not collect things and I deliberately live in the country with as few of belongings as I can. Recently my wife and I are building a small house on a farm we bought last year, and we are down sizing even more as we are off grid. We use a generator for power, hang pump for water, and satellite for internet. The internet might be going soon as well which will be sad.

Anyways all that to say that I finally decided to get a 16 for Christmas, and I am digging it. I think my other knives are going to be getting posted on ebay soon. The 16 is a nice knife and overall good design.

Here is a picture after making it mine by modding. After all, this thread needs a picture of a 16.:D

Haha! That's what my brother-in-law keeps telling me. You'll start with the 16, but it'll soon be the 9, 15, 17...it won't end. I honestly don't think it'll happen to me. I'm more on the minimalist side and I've been really researching about what's a great solid, performing knife.

Time and time again this knife kept coming up and was shown nothing but love.

You know we're closing in on january 1st right? Not April 1st...
There's plenty of heroin addicts that said "i'm just gonna try it once. I can stop whenever i want".
Fact of the matter is the becker bug has allready sinked its fangs into you, and once you're bitten there's no going back.

Welcome and good luck ;)

Well, I think have been "bitten." My wife, that wonderful, wonderful woman who has listened to me drone on about this knife for the last month told me that she ordered one for me last night. Score! Honestly, I believe it was her tactic in getting me to shut up about it, haha.

Now, that leaves me with a little extra cash. I was thinking of maybe spending it on another sheath or another Becker. I really don't know...

Buy the Becker, they come with their own sheaths. ;)

Hahahah!!!! It took you 24 hours to get the Becker fever and pull a 180. Get another Becker, you won't regret it!!!!

Haha, yeah. It's hit hard. I'm really looking at the 9 now. I was thinking about adding a hatchet to my camping gear, but with the 9, I don't think I'll need it.

Plus, as stated many times in this forum, I believe Becker's customer service is top notch. When Ethan Becker himself, is a pretty steady figure on this forum, listening and personally helping us with any questions or concerns we may have, that speaks volumes. Not only are the knives top quality, but that attention to his customers is what really sold me on getting a Becker. I probably will always and only go with Becker from now on.

I'm a scoutmaster, and camp a lot. The 9 completely replaces a hatchet for me, anyways. It's way more functional, too.

Funny how fast this transition takes place.....

FWIW, the 9 would probably eliminate the need for a hatchet and lighten your load, thus keeping the "minimalist" zeitgeist. The 4 also pairs well with the 16. Since it looks as if you're going all in, just get the knife and see if you can mod the sheaths - they are imo the best free sheaths you can get with a knife, and are pretty easy to modify. Plus there are LOTS of spare sheaths floating around on this sub. You'll be one of us soon. Welcome!

I was just looking at the 4. I really like the Kukri style. I know that if its a Becker, its built like a tank and can definitely handle my chopping needs.
